  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

What government and private sectors could you see Scout being successful in commercially? (Police, military, S&R, Delivery, etc)

I also have one of those in each vehicle. I’m the product of a LOT of breakdowns. Sigh.

    Center Headrest

As a remote sensing scientist, I’ll never use cameras/screens as my primary rear-view or side-view option. Mirrors operate at light speed. Cameras are so much slower that they’re useless for safety when safety matters most.

Deep Dive into EREV - Ramcharger vs Harvester?

Agreed. I have one very niche situation where a small bit of range increase in the Lightning might make a tiny bit of difference. I can slow from the 65 mph speed limit to 60 mph to alleviate that concern. Otherwise, in all of our ~80k miles of driving the Mustang and Lightning, range hasn't...

I've jump started ice vehicles with both the Lightning and the Mustang. I carry a 120v to 12v battery booster, so even if it was an issue to jump from the LVB, I could give people a boost.

    Front and rear Accessory Bus

This is similar to several other requests for a full upfitter-friendly architecture. They’ll have a 12V fuse box (at least one). The question is whether they’ll provide spare fuse space and sensible locations to tap into the bus.

    Front and rear Accessory Bus

    It’s 800V.

    Charging while driving…Wild, irresponsible speculation...

Yeah, I started to move away from doing my own maintenance on our ’19 Tacoma. There’s just too much stuff in the way to want to waste a bunch of time on it. It didn’t hurt that I’ve moved from poverty to middle class in the past 40 years so I can pay someone whose job it is to have the tools and...

    Charging while driving…Wild, irresponsible speculation...

I have almost 50,000 miles on our Mustang Mach-E and have spent less than $100 for maintenance in more than three years. Our little 12V lead-acid battery is probably nearing the end of its life, so I’ll probably have to double our maintenance cost this year. Doing my own maintenance on our...

    Charging while driving…Wild, irresponsible speculation...

Another issue with every other truck/SUV that isn't a Scout, Lightning, R1, or Silverado/Sierra is that I wouldn't get much use out of a solar/battery trailer.

    Door Handles!

If we’re talking on a pickup truck or SUV? Making the door handles less usable doesn’t improve aerodynamics because the rest of the shape is so much more of an issue than a tiny protrusion on the door. If we’re talking on a Lucid Air or Ioniq 6, then it’s still not clear it matters. Those two...

    Charging while driving…Wild, irresponsible speculation...

I am super curious what the final rear suspension of the Scout will be. I find that many of the people I’ve talked to who were against the “more complex” BEV have eventually realized the simplicity is much, much greater than an ICE. A lot of people don’t actually want to do engine work all the...

    Charging while driving…Wild, irresponsible speculation...

My build of a 2025 4-Runner TRD Pro or Trailhunter is $71k for either one, with minor differences. I’d choose a Scout (BEV) over the 4-Runner TRD Pro or Trailhunter if the basic setup was close enough to the same and the Scout Traveler price was $10k-$15k more than the 4-Runner. And I’ve been a...

This is all they’ve announced: Pricing Traveler: $50,000 with incentives Terra: $51,500 with incentives Pricing is for U.S. market only. Entry model price reflects targeted starting price with incentives. Available incentives at the time of sale may vary based on current federal, state, and...

Yeah. I don’t know. I have zero insight into the details of what Scout Motors is actually doing. Just watching and guessing. Also, I’m a pessimist when it comes to things I can’t map out. Since I can’t map out how they’re going to set the pricing, I’m pessimistic about it.

We’re also boondockers who take at least a day to get to our campsite, sometimes two, so we like to camp for 3-5 days at a time to relax from the drive out before having to make the drive back. Most of our camp sites are very nearly 50% from a refueling station. Some are farther than 50%. When...

And I think it’s important to note that often times the ______ trades, cost differences have been bought down to pennies over years of those high margins going into improving the manufacturing such that the cost of *producing* a “base level” product is minimally different from producing a...

    Travelall 3 Row

One of my siblings fell off of the flatbed and needed 100 stitches in their head. I still marvel that we were lucky enough not to have lost anyone.

    Travelall 3 Row

My favorite road trip vehicle before we got the Lightning as the Toyota Sienna. Minivans get a bad rap, but they’re one of the most useful and easiest to drive vehicles around. I’d swap for an all-electric Sienna tomorrow if I could figure out the funds.
