  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    New Battery By 24M Technologies

I expect we’ll see silicone-graphite and then silicone anodes before we see solid state batteries in EVs. I hope the promises the silicone anode companies are making come true. Rapid recharge rates (90 seconds for 0-100% for 2-5Ah cells) would reduce most people’s major complaint. But they...

    CYURE GOES TO NATIONALS!!! Yay!!!

Oh, but it’s a terrible photo. I’m sure you can find many better ones online. I hope Scout decides to go with a sunroof instead of a static sheet of glass. I won’t buy a cabana roof and I won’t buy a glass roof without at least a closing shade and preferably with an opening section. But who am...

    New Battery By 24M Technologies

There’s pretty-much-zero probability that 24M will be ready for any kind of production volume required by an automobile manufacturer before 2030. The tour of their laboratory is a far, far cry from a 500+ acre, $2B+ battery plant that would be required provide the volume needed for automobile...

    CYURE GOES TO NATIONALS!!! Yay!!!

This is the sunroof in the Lightning taken with “selfie mode” on my phone that’s in my hand next to the steering wheel. Please forgive the rain spots. I live on a dirt road and washing the truck is a futile endeavor.

    CYURE GOES TO NATIONALS!!! Yay!!!

With the Lightning you can definitely get that AND get the benefits of a closing sunshade when you park. If you don’t live where it gets -20 ºF, then there’s no need to close the shade while driving in the winter either.

    CYURE GOES TO NATIONALS!!! Yay!!!

It’s all IR-reflective, tinted, and UV reflective, yes. But in the Arizona sun, an unblocked glass roof still contributes significantly to the increase in temperature of the vehicle when it’s sitting in the sun. This is because of the main aspect of the greenhouse effect: Visible light gets in...

    CYURE GOES TO NATIONALS!!! Yay!!!

Our Mustang has a glass roof without an integrated shade. It’s pretty poor design. There should be an integrated shade so the summer sun isn’t too hot and the winter cabin heat doesn’t escape through the glass. Both of these are serious issues, though mostly for two different groups of owners...

    Double charge ports

The only way it would make sense to me to do two charge ports is if they put a CCS1 charge port on the front driver’s side, in front of the wheel and a NACS port on the front passenger side in front of the wheel — which is where all tow-capable NACS vehicles should have their charge port. The...

What will you typical cargo look like in your Scout?

I apparently haven’t taken photos of my frunk with its usual emergency gear—some of which has been in my kit since the early 1990s. When we go on camping trips, I also pack extra gear depending on the length of the trip, who we’re going with, and what kind of recovery gear I think we’ll need...

    CYURE GOES TO NATIONALS!!! Yay!!!

And the Detox mode shows up in a different place than the “parked" modes screen, so… Lot’s of different kinds of modes… /shrug it’s not hugely important—it’ll be documented soon enough. I was just mostly curious.

    CYURE GOES TO NATIONALS!!! Yay!!!

That’s the video I screengrabbed from. The drive mode screen is separate from this mode screen. I’m, guessing that one is for actual driving modes and the other is for “parked” modes.

    CYURE GOES TO NATIONALS!!! Yay!!!

Oh, okay, this is like the Ford’s Calm Screen mode. Could be. I don’t understand the icon still, which means I have no reason to think it’s not.

    CYURE GOES TO NATIONALS!!! Yay!!!

I haven’t heard of detox mode.

    CYURE GOES TO NATIONALS!!! Yay!!!

Clockwise from the 1:00 position: Camp/Outdoor Mode Pet Mode Sleep/Dark/Astronomy Mode ???? Mode Seems to be Carwash Mode

    CYURE GOES TO NATIONALS!!! Yay!!!

Did he happen to catch a good, crisp photo of the modes selection screen? There are two modes that have been subject to a lot of debate and confusion in part because the icons are weird and the video screen grabs are fuzzy…

Why the door handles/locks should not be purely electric...

Yeah, I see the questions often enough that I thought I’d share a reason to avoid going all-electric with certain aspects of the vehicle. Will there be keyholes or otherwise mechanical interfaces to the locks on the exterior handles?

    Solar Panel Roof

One of the things that I find sad is the insistence on perfection. For mobile/portable solar to provide a benefit, there are some extras that are necessary (an auxiliary battery or some other way to bank or boost the input to provide the right V*A to charge the HVB). But it’s not impossible to...

Why the door handles/locks should not be purely electric...

Note: There’s also a danger if the LVB failure automatically disengages a lock. If a driver/passenger is unsafe because of something going on outside of the vehicle and they attempt to lock their doors but the LVB is low/dead, then the locks might not engage or might disengage, increasing the...

Why the door handles/locks should not be purely electric...

I’m certain Scout Motors is paying close attention to all the things in the automotive world. That said, there’s been a trend of manufacturers going toward all-electric in everything, re-inventing things like door handles for no good reason, just to “disrupt” the space, apparently without any...
