  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    User programmable starting option

It depends on what the vehicle is missing, and what the controller architecture is. Sometimes it's safe to put your own firewall/controller between the ECU and some specific controller to implement your own driver aids, and sometimes that's a really bad idea. Out of all the silly things I've...

    User programmable starting option

Nice. It would be awesome if this vehicle had a software suite or at least an API/CANbus catalog for users that want to implement our own features. Not that I have my hopes all that high for something like that.

How flat towing should work in a perfect world....if Scout makes it a feature.

Crossing a ditch or any other instance where you're using that approach/departure angle can be annoying at best or difficult if it has auto-braking. I do agree that these settings should be reengaged when the vehicle is power cycled.

How flat towing should work in a perfect world....if Scout makes it a feature.

It strains my imagination to think of a failure mode that is corrected by the parking brake being applied after 10 minutes of being in neutral have elapsed. Maybe 10 seconds, or immediately if a door is opened, but 10 minutes makes little sense. I personally think all these features should be...

    User programmable starting option

Optional for sure. I like the idea of separate driving profiles. I've gotten into a lot of devices by looking at the smudges where I know that pin is punched in, that's why I brought that up. In the end, I really trust Scout's judgement. Admittedly, I'm also happy for them to make the...

    User programmable starting option

Ohhh, yeah, that's good thinking, that would be relatively easy to make happen based on the architecture that I've seen in the videos.

How flat towing should work in a perfect world....if Scout makes it a feature.

Most of the EV's and fancy new cars have those toggle switch ebrakes that turn on by themselves. For example, you can't even tow a new Land Rover Defender with a recovery strap for more than 10 min, because it will automatically turn on the ebrake while you're pulling it. Scout would need to...

    User programmable starting option

I like this idea, so this is more of an add on comment than any kind of argument. A numeric passcode on the screen would likely be simpler to implement and have a much larger key space than using combination of discrete switches. Extra security points would be awarded to Scout if they put a...

If I were you, I'd keep the reservation till the official numbers come out. I assume you can cancel at any time.

    Analog Scout?

He just got me thinking about my old army trucks. I couldn't resist. This was probably a troll question anyway.

Bi-directional Charging / Home Power Backup

    This is an underrated comment.

    Analog Scout?

You know you want an M1009 CUCV... You used to be able to get them for like $3500. Good times.

Scout should publish info about EREV driving modes

I feel like a vehicle like the scout should have a "longevity" drive mode where it restricts battery usage at the top and bottom of charge states, and has closer thermal thresholds on the battery. Maybe re-mapping the throttle to be less jarring on the spinning bits. I imagine this isn't far off...

Drive Mode Selector (sport, normal, eco) on the steering wheel

I'm sure they know what they are doing, but I'm going to put this in here anyway. From my point of view, anything "normal" that one would do with the drivetrain should be able to be done with winter/work gloves on. I'd prefer a big switch/button on the dash or headliner area to a small but...

Make it run on low octane (aka cheaper gas)

I thought I heard someone say in a video that it was going to be naturally aspirated.

Make it run on low octane (aka cheaper gas)

You're probably right. I'm just guessing at stuff here and making small talk. I'm sure Scout already knows what they are doing.

Make it run on low octane (aka cheaper gas)

The current Porsche Boxster (718) has a turbo 2.0 horizontal 4 cylinder that requires premium fuel. It's the right shape and weight for a harvester, and it with the right changes, including the removal of the turbo, it could easily output enough KW's and still run off of regular gas. I'm pretty...

    Harvester towing

I agree with pretty much everything you're saying, so this is just adding to the conversation. No matter what they do, this vehicle will rip through fuel and battery going up a long mountain pass with a heavy trailer. The problem with the electric dive on these machines is that without variable...

    Harvester towing

I think this is a pretty reasonable description of the challenges involved. I do think that the frame will be identical on both vehicles though. They would just loose too much economy of scale. Let's not forget the vehicles with the harvester are the default, the BEVs are the exception. One...

Harvester generator gas and not diesel

I imagine that engine cooling will be isolated from battery cooling. An ICE engine will run at like 185f - 200f and a battery should be more like 40f - 110f. I am happy to hear that it will be encased and presumably have an elevated intake and exhaust. This is all good stuff.
