  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Slate Truck Methodology

Hopefully Scout will take the good ideas from the Slate concept and make them their own (simplicity and price being key. The fewer things to break the better). This is the problem with announcing a vehicle years before it's fully baked. It's basically going to be old news by the time orders...

How about a cheap version that i can actually take offroad

Oh yeah, that slate truck has a 150kw motor, which is about 200hp. The problem with EV's without selectable gearing is that you can't just go into a lower gear and get there slower. You either have the umph or you don't. If they made a front motor kit for the slate, you might be able to tow...

How about a cheap version that i can actually take offroad

I have concerns that I might end up with a scout and the slate... All of that is dependent on how modifiable the slate actually is.

How about a cheap version that i can actually take offroad

To the point of this original post. Yeah, if this scout stands the test of time, the one with the harvester is exactly what you want. Just as an older car when the price goes down.

[Terra] Heat ducts in the bed

I'm with you on this. I kind of want the minimum number of things built into the truck that can break.

Range extender - please adjust spec to 250 miles of EV Range

Does this sound about right? compare that to a Jeep Wrangler that gets 14 MPG. Traveling 500 miles would consume 35.71 Gallons of fuel and cost $142.86 dollars. The funny thing about all this is, we already know it does worse than a small car, and better than a truck. It might be inline with...

Range extender - please adjust spec to 250 miles of EV Range

While I was playing with those numbers, I added some comparisons for other vehicles. This is for a 500 mile trip starting from a place where electricity costs $0.13 per kWh. P.S. If anyone wants to add their known MPG into the list, I'm happy to add it for additional context. all I need is a...

Range extender - please adjust spec to 250 miles of EV Range

I punched in those numbers for comparison: and got this for costs on that the same 40 mile trip that I mentioned in the last post (notice this estimates your fuel economy closer to 42MPG) In a scout (with harvester) that same 40 miles in your location should look something more like: and...

Range extender - please adjust spec to 250 miles of EV Range

I should have asked about the MPG of the vehicle it replaces and the average fuel price there, oh, and how long the road trips might be. Just for fun, I input your numbers to see what those daily energy costs look like. (math...)

Range extender - please adjust spec to 250 miles of EV Range

The implied ICE range looks like 350 miles (500 - 150) of course real life is never the same as on paper, some companies underestimate range on sustained driving and others over-sell their range. Unfortunately, on that front Scout is a complete unknown. The thing is shaped like a brick, so I...

    Glass Break Sensor

There are a lot of options. My only apprehension about any of it is 1) getting immobilized because my foolishness got the wrong sensor wet, and 2) battery drain over long periods of non-use. The thing that's at the top of my mind is the fact that any good car spends most of its life as an old...

    Glass Break Sensor

A good security system makes a lot of sense for owners when they park in cities and the vehicles get regular use. I would prefer to have a good security system over not having one for sure. I would want a way to disable all those sensors for when the vehicle isn't getting regular use.

Range extender - please adjust spec to 250 miles of EV Range

With our BEV we generally never charge to the top, and don't want to go too far down. With a range extender and LFP batteries, you'd likely be more comfortable with using as much battery as the computer will allow. My guess is that running the harvester will be around 22MPG. Every number is...

Range extender - please adjust spec to 250 miles of EV Range

For whatever it's worth, our BEV is coming up on 10 years and the battery is at 99% - 98% health. 70k(ish) miles. Other than boring maintenance and the odd factory recall there has never been a problem other than flaky android auto wired connections sometimes. I'd stay away from air-cooled...

    Ideas for Harvester

Is there a VW group horizontally opposed diesel engine at all? This thing is going to need a boxer engine to fit inside the frame rails I assume. I think most people would have a modified gas powered engine that has proven itself for a decade+ in other cars over a cobbled together diesel engine...

    Glass Break Sensor

The main problem with those is the sampling rate on an audio based glassbreak sensor is something like 200ms minimum. Processing audio input is going to be a constant drain on the low voltage system. This is fine under some conditions but it will drain the battery over time, and some modern...

    Military and Fleet

This has me picturing a whole new thread where instead of people just wanting a diesel harvester, they want a multi-fuel harvester, CTIS, blackout lights, 24V NATO plugs, surgepro/shielding/faraday on the important LRUs... Actually come to think of it, this thing is really close to being a...

How flat towing should work in a perfect world....if Scout makes it a feature.

That one has gotten me on rental vehicles. I sometimes wish there was a, "Yes, I know this is an expensive machine, I'll be careful." button.
