  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

You're in WY, right? Isn't diesel cheaper than premium and sometimes regular like it is here in CO? I don't mind putting a few gallons of DEF in a tank every few months. It's like refilling a window washer tank. Other than that it's the same for me.

Direct Sales - Dealership can stay mad!

    Heck yeah. Screw dealership cartels.

Jerry Cans + Harvester Range Extender

This is actually how diesel electric locomotives work, but of course diesels are even more thermally efficient and pack more joules per liter of fuel than gasoline does. And they pull literally millions of pounds of cargo in each train, for hundreds of miles. Think about this - if all you do is...

How much personalization/modification ability do you want to see in the new Scout?

Land Rover began offering this for the Defender a couple years ago. Pricing it out as a factory option vs going to a local detail shop, it seems like it would save a couple thousand dollars.

I have a diesel Land Rover for my road trip vehicle and current off-roader. Its range is waaaaaayy longer than my bladder capacity. 😕😂

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

I'd say it's more to ensure I can get home from the way outback when I've exhausted the battery charge. Can't carry a Jerry can of electrons around. Yet.

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

YES! Also for states like mine that require firearms to be locked up and out of sight when left in a vehicle. Steel please, maybe with a biometric access or key code. I'd say 8in long by 5in wide by 6in deep would be a sufficient size, and pry-resistant.

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

@Nate@ScoutMotors @Scott@ScoutMotors - Did you consider a middle-hinged swing-out spare carrier on the Traveler, such that you could open it in more confined spaces such as when parallel parked? Kind of like opening those old-school closet doors? If the hinge only swings inward, then the whole...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

My Land Rover has an "activity key" - for my model years it's just a ruggedized RFID/NFC wristband, later years more like a smartwatch/Fitbit, I prefer mine as it's indestructible. And yes I've tested that. Unintentionally. You leave the key in the car, close everything, and hold the fob up...

How will the scouts handle the extreme cold?

Ideally it could pre-condition the battery and perhaps keep it topped up, but you would want to ensure it's parked outside and not in a closed garage. Most EVs if you leave them plugged in have features that allow you to precondition them (warm up the cabin, warm the battery) before you set off.

So on my Polestar, I have the option to adjust the max state of charge dynamically. Batteries wear out, but if you only charge them to 80 or 90% regularly, you'll get more life out of them. I charge at home almost exclusively - I've used a fast charger maybe twice, just to ensure I know how...

How much personalization/modification ability do you want to see in the new Scout?

Here's another idea. Factory installed self-healing wrap to guard against veggie pinstripes.

Love it. Give me saddle brown distressed leather inside and take my money.

    Gas Powered Range Extender

Could probably cut one of these in half for a 6-stroke inline-3, and it's in the VW family already: https://www.motortrend.com/news/porsche-engine-patent-stroke-explained/ There's also this little beaut, which has some pretty eye-watering power density...

    Gas Powered Range Extender

Wankels are very inefficient engines and suffer from a number of emissions problems, but they can be packed down into very small volumes. I suppose operating in a narrow torque and HP range would allow them to tune for more efficiency and handle emissions, but VW hasn't built Wankels in a very...

Why do you like to go off-road?

    1. It's the destination, but the journey is part of the fun. Many great outdoor adventures can be had just a little beyond the last paved parking lot, where most people won't go. 2. Filter out the front-country traffic. 3. As I get older, my pull to the outdoors is still the same. The mind is...

How much personalization/modification ability do you want to see in the new Scout?

I see a lot of bro-dozer trucks here in Colorado that never leave the pavement too. I for one do NOT want a standard 3rd row in the Traveler. It will compromise rear cargo space. Optional is fine.

    Switches and Knobs?

That's a volume knob. Talking HVAC. Unless it's multi-functional? I'm which case, how does it know?

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

Good point. So I would like horizontal geothermal integrated into the...underbody. please.
