  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Road Trip in a VW Buzz: Success or Train Wreck

TFL is pretty legit. A couple of years ago they threw a camper on the bed of a Ford Lightning and took it to Alaska. Roman can be a little dramatic, but I don’t think his frustrations weren’t understandable with the charging issues he had...

Road Trip in a VW Buzz: Success or Train Wreck

@Jamie@ScoutMotors I appreciate you chiming in. Using different software is good to hear. Obviously you can’t do anything about charging stations that are down. What you can do is offer realistic range and reliable software. That’s what you can control. This video highlights a lot of my...

Road Trip in a VW Buzz: Success or Train Wreck

TFL just released a video road tripping the new VW Buzz, and it was a mess. The lack of range on the battery was one thing, but what’s worse is the GPS Routing Software that led them to charging stations that were down. This whole video is why a lot of us (me included) reserved the Harvester...

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

I think you’re pretty spot on here between the two groups.

    Ram Bait and Switch...

Technically Ram had a pre-production model in March of 2023. It was a wild concept, but it was never a preorder vehicle. https://www.motortrend.com/news/2024-ram-1500-electric-pickup-features-coming-soon-dodge-daytona-ev/

What 16 Metro's Will Scout Launch?

I have a hunch that the whole state of Montana will be left out (we only have around a million people in the whole state). Getting the Scout serviced is one thing lingering in the back of my mind.

Are factory deliveries for reservation holders being considered?

While not as far as you (2,400 miles), I’m having the same thoughts. Time of delivery will play a factor. Cutting across the country in the middle of winter wouldn’t be very fun.

    Wheel size options

An 18” Rim with 35” tires is fine. I’d prefer 17” wheels as well, but I have had no issue with the 18” wheel/35” tire setup on my TRX.

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

I don’t do a lot of long distance trips like that. We have one trip each year to San Juan Island which is 550 miles one way, and then we catch a ferry. Having to add time in to charge on a trip like this would make me nervous. This is why I went with the Scout Traveler with the Harvester Range...

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

For me the whole EV thing is still all very new (I have a Scout on order, but have never owned an EV). All the data is great, but I like a more basic approach: Miles Driven/Time Spent at Charger/Total Cost per Charge When I’m traveling 500 miles in a day, I’m more concerned about getting there...

    Accessories Poll For Scouts

I was thinking the same thing. Rock sliders that also function as a step. I have the factory rock sliders on my TRX and they have a small step built in (I’d like the step to be slightly larger).

    I like that!

Stunning colors & stripes on Terra / Traveler - previews 😍

I just want a basic metallic silver color. Cleans up easily, and hides scratches better than any color.

Why do I feel like Marty McFly having time travel explained to him by Dr. Emmett Brown?

    Rethink Steering Wheel Design?

LOL - This is where personal preference comes in. I would rather see something a little more chunky with a flat bottom. I love the steering wheel in my TRX, it just feels right. It’s fun to see different perspectives.

    Instrument Cluster

@Chaparral may have touched on this a little already. Scout is trying to combine old school and new school. To me it would be cool if the battery range indicator looked like a fuel gauge with a needle, and then maybe distance till empty somehow incorporated as well. Something like this? Where it...

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

The “Refuel Anywhere” leads people to believe they can get gas and keep going without worrying about charging. Even the smaller note about “go the extra mile, and then a couple hundred more” makes it sound like you can travel north of the 500 miles on gas alone.

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

My TRX may disagree with you (as well as my past trucks - a 2012 Power Wagon and 2004 Ram 2500 Hemi).

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

The problem for me as a EV Newby is the Harvester Range Extender sounded like the solution to Range Anxiety. I’m sure I’m not the only one who put a deposit down thinking this was the perfect EV for my usage. All EV for most daily activities and commutes, but when the 500 plus mile days come...

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

I appreciate the response, but selfishly hope you’re wrong. We regularly take two trips each year that are north of 550 miles, and last year we only stoped once for gas and kept going. If this is not a possibility with the Harvester, it may not be the right vehicle for us.
