  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Battery tech

There are some currently limited production techs that might mainstream before the Scout goes into production. The real problem is IF they are significantly better than existing mainstream tech, they will most likely sell initial mainstream production at a significant premium. VW probably has...

    HUD

I live rural in S. Texas - in the Eagleford Play (oil field). A large portion of our traffic is oilfield (a large portion of our economy is oilfield - 100% of my income is oilfield). Every well, every production facility - is on a gravel road, most connected to gravel county roads (they few...

Little things I find annoying with my current car (lights, wipers, A/C)

Poorly designed LED lights are a pet peeve of mine. Incandescent and HID are essentially point source lights - easy to design reflectors for. LED array apparently are not. Can not even guess the hundreds of times my wife has been flashed in her Jeep to dim her lights when they are already on...

    HUD

Love the idea, but my insurance would hate it. I live in an area with a lot of commercial traffic. 1/2 life of windshields is 6 months. I don't replace them that often - but new ones only last 6 months.

    Terra tailgate storage

I have occasionally wanted lockable bed storage - such as in the sides of the bed. When I carry dirty stuff, I found any cracks in the tailgate let gunk get in - so tailgate is kind of a no for me. I have seen some done in interesting ways - such as a slide out tray, completely hidden behind a...

    Current and future features

while I don't anticipate full self driving in a 27 Scout - VW does have a good suite of top end driver assist features, which I hope are all offered on the Scout. Auto wipers are on my 2015 VW - would be embarrassing if a 27 vehicle did not have them. My 17 Ford has auto high beams - again...

[Terra] Double cab with a 6.5' bed

Having owned 2 half ton extended cabs - my only real complaint is loading passengers in parking lots. Extend cabs in sub 1/2 ton trucks - it is virtually gear/dog space only (unless in an emergency).

    Basic or All Decked Out?

I am kind of mixed. Certain features I want decked out. Others, I care a lot less about. This is fairly consistent with my last 4 vehicle purchases. I don't care that much about luxury - I do care about functionality. I want good driver assistance features. Other than that, I will probably...

    Front Bench Seat

I have to admit - saying it is for your dog was marketing genius. I had to take my dog to the groomer today - I felt guilty the whole trip as he struggled to find a comfortable position on the bucket seat (I would have never thought about it before the mention in the reveal) - generally either...

    Integrated Trailer Brake Controller

It is a cheep to add standard feature - or an easy to add upgrade for increased margin. One of the few options I missed on our JLURD order. But after hooking up a trailer to it, and realizing how it reacted to tongue weight - never perused adding it.

[Terra] Double cab with a 6.5' bed

What you see most depends on your location. I see a ton of 3/4 tons. My desire for a 6.5' bed is overlanding. Did it a ton with my first truck - and it was a godsend with a cap. I could keep a full sized mattress in the rear. My overlanding days completely stopped when I went to a 5.5' bed...

Future Model: Scout Sport- Smaller, and more efficient, but still capable.

Rav4, Patriot, CRV - they do sell, but I think they sell in a more budget oriented market. Just looked, seems like a loaded Rav4 is about 35k. The Rav4 hybrid (not plug in) I saw was 45k + 5k of dealer add ons. I guess there must be a market for a 50k Rav4 (or the dealer would not have been...

    Scout Color Poll #1

Tons of shades, and shades may make the difference from person to person. IIRC, the vehicles I have owned so far are Black (3), gray (2 - but it is never a favorite color of mine), Red (2), Maroon (2), very dark green (2), orange (1). Wanted OD green, but have never gotten one. Had to drive...

Wish I could sleep till 2027!

Around 2012, I was hopefully waiting for a promised vehicle release. Got my VW in 2015 after giving up on it. In 2016, got a Wrangler when waiting for another release. Replaced that wrangler in 2018 still waiting. That one I was waiting on was eventually released this year - DOA. Hardly a...

Scout Dimensions Updated On Our Website

The Terra has a bit more wheelbase - I can see a spare tire fitting under it. Not so sure on the Traveler. That said, the Terra could always carry one in the bed.

    Missing the mark

Honestly, they seemed to have listened to us with the concept. It's hard to listen to a bunch of people wanting different things. But a concept is not a production vehicle - and I am hoping this one hits the mark fairly closely. I guess my 2 larger fears are it not hitting it's mark - and...

    Audio system

Once upon a time stock systems were a joke - and I was as bad as the next person building custom systems for my vehicles. But a LOT of stock systems now sound pretty good. My LJ did not come with stock, so I did upgrade that a little - not so much for sound, as features. I do enjoy wireless...

    Diesel Range Extender option please.

While I do prefer my diesels (only slight issue is we don't get winter blend and we have had 2 hard enough cold snaps to cause temporary issues), I don't see Scout doing it. As already said, Regen and DEF make it too complicated for a lot of people. That said, my SxS, 2 Tractors, Skid Steer...

[Terra] Double cab with a 6.5' bed

I have often questioned if Ford made the Lightning to fail. We tried, nobody liked it - now lets continue to cash in on what works. But honestly, at least from my personal experience. You don't really want a longer truck, till you realize you need a longer truck. The true niche is the extend...

    Onboard air compressor

It was shown in the reveal - but the cfm has not been mentioned.
