  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Sound suppression

My family has a newish Rubicon and an LJ, both hardtops. While the Rubicon is not quiet, it is entirely tolerable (with it's built in noise damping, acoustic glass, and active deadening from the sound system. I have done EVERYTHING other than go to road tires on the LJ. It was completely...

    Comparing preorders to Bronco sales

FWIW, thanks to the fact I don't watch live TV and I have YouTube ad's free - I have not seen a single advertisement for Scout. The only ads I see these days are when I click on an embedded YouTube link and the video starts without logging into my account. I avoid that most of the time. But I...

    Comparing preorders to Bronco sales

Honestly, hard to market hard before there is a pre-production vehicle rather than a production intent. The real push will be after they have the models more tied down and they have a small fleet of vehicles that are closer to production versions. I honestly wonder if the first couple months...

    Automatic Retractable Electric Running Boards

Not really interested personally. I have one on my truck, I use it all the time. But my truck is somewhat taller than the Scout. I don't have on on my LJ, and it is still taller than my truck - so I really don't need it. They can be convenient I guess, but it is just another cost and point...

Entry Model Specs, Premium Model Price?

OEM parts are usually made available - but not necessarily quickly or at a reasonable price. I accidentally purchased a new Rubicon missing a feature (we would not have purchased it if we had known the feature was missing - and the salesman knew this and intentionally hid the fact that it was...

Do You Want Your Scout To Have A Hands-Free Driving System?

Rural road might have different definitions to different people. I would not expect it to work on gravel roads, But the vast majority of my driving is on FM roads. Most are pretty decent - full width lanes and some shoulders. Speed limits vary between 60 and 75mph. If you look at Scout's...

Make Sure Traveler is drivable with tailgate/liftgate open.

I have a swing out rear tire carrier now on my LJ. Nothing quite like accidentally not fastening perfectly and taking out a garbage can beside the road after you take your first left turn.

Do You Want Your Scout To Have A Hands-Free Driving System?

It's not THAT important to me. I simply will cancel my reservation unless it is at least has a good to great driver assist options. I have other outdated cars, I don't need to buy another. I am fairly sure whatever they add to their vehicle that differentiates it from the competition will not...

Bi-directional Charging / Home Power Backup

The problem with V2L at the moment is few if any vehicles support it at a power to do much more than run a refrigerator or 2. 24kW would be nice - but having a backup generator on a rental, I am already aware specifically that 24kW can be limiting. Barely limiting, but if both AC's fire at the...

    Bench Seat vs Standard

I have owned both. My dogs preferred the bench seating (although driving for 3+ hours with a dog head in your lap was a bit annoying). I don't think any of my current vehicles have benches. The last vehicle I got with a bench I got the bench for a different reason - and never used it for...

South Carolina Bill Introduced - Email to Reservation Holders

Funny, but sad. We don't allow direct sales in Texas either. IIRC Tesla has to ship vehicles made in Austin out of state, so they can be sold and delivered to Texas customers (including those in Austin)... While I understand kind of why the law was created - it no longer serves its purpose...

Payload and towing with harvester range extender on a Traveler

Unless they use something like a standard receiver hitch - using a load balancing hitch will be difficult. Without a load balancing hitch, tongue weight will limit most trailers rather than overall trailer weight. Read up on a few other vehicles - they brag about how much they can tow, but...

Did Your City Receive 2025 Grant Funds To Build Charging and Refueling Infrastructure?

No. Not a public charger in my county. But to be honest - my county does not have any major transit corridors (well apparently we do, but only for illegal activity - seems the interstates are patrolled more, so illegal activity gets rerouted through us). If I go a few miles north - there is a...

How flat towing should work in a perfect world....if Scout makes it a feature.

Given its weight, it would be nice if a braking system was included (at least as an option) by Scout. If that braking system could be regenerative, all the better. If a braking system is included, it will have some electrical draw whenever the Scout is in tow mode. Given the size of the EV...

More Info on Scout Terra and Traveler (Scout Blog)

V2L was mentioned specifically for the truck, but the SUV mentioned this I am more interested in the Harvester mentioning a range in excess of 500 miles, while the EV saying up to 350 miles (so it could be significantly less).

    Terra Rear Bumper Step

A lot of truck manufacturers have put ladders in their tail gates. I really don't like these. My truck does not have a step in the bumper corner, but I did add an AMP Research drop down corner step - probably the best modification I have ever done to a vehicle. Now in all fairness, perhaps it...

Interesting article about the engineering underneath the new Scouts

I thought my 2000 Ford F150 still had a solid front axle, but I sold it 8 years ago - so could be wrong. My Dodge did have a solid front axle - but sold it closer to 25 years ago - and I only remember it was a solid axle because I managed to rip it off. My truck is a solid front axle F250...

    Suggestion: Autonomous Driving Mode

Quick google showed aging articles - but it seemed like Merc's level 3 is limited to a very specific (but useful) situation - traffic on a highway at below 40mph (and then probably only specific highways). Other commenters mentioned the real difference between level 2 and level 3 is where the...

    Ideas for Scout Engineers

solar has it's place, but it is limited in a vehicle. I did have solar on my truck for overlanding. I did not have huge batteries, and I wanted to keep a fridge running. Without looking it up, I guess the fridge used 50 watts of power (google of a similar fridge said 350 watts per day - so...

Interesting article about the engineering underneath the new Scouts

A lot depends on what you are looking for. 4 wheel independent suspension will have less unsprung weight and will generally have a nicer ride. More modern... Accept when you look at most serious off road vehicles, they have gone to solid axles for durability. Kind of like why a Chevy 1/2 ton...
