  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Accessories: not merch or accessories that are integrated into the car, but think seat covers, etc. What do we want?

I will be building a cargo shelf - with an extension to go over the rear seat to make a sleeping platform. I would not be opposed to get one pre-made if it was done better than I can do myself.

    Seats made for americans.

While I have found vehicle seats less and less comfortable to sit on - I assumed the problem was with my seat, not the vehicles. Americans need to exercise their seats more...

    Fun with energy use numbers

I've done a bit of research and played with the math in a few threads. I did not find much info on intermediate towing however. Most of the people doing test tows, want to push it to its max of 10k lbs. I don't recall those tests doing 80% to 20%, but more like 100% to 10%. Since most of...

How do you plan to kit out your interior?

It usually happens somewhat organically. I expect I will car camp/overland. Will probably build a platform in the to the extent the roof height allows (and I can still get in a pair of dog kennels). Will rig up the platform to fold forward to make a sleeping platform (odds are a folding...

    Harvester towing

We have tons of data from other EV Trucks that show about how many kw/h it takes to tow 10k lbs at highway speed. It is impressively terrible (my wild guess is it takes about 90kw per hour to tow 10k lbs). The Dodge Ram Charger is being designed to be able to tow - but it has a huge generator...

Will harvester models be "maintenance free" like their EV siblings?

When I was researching generators - I found most suggested service every 100 hours of use - and at least the one we settled on would go into limp mode at 200 hours (they would allow an extended service interval in case of emergency). If you throw 50mph on a car - 100/200hrs would be 5k or 10k...

Offer it with a gas motor

The main reason I would not be unhappy with Scout making an ICE vehicle is it would take more of the EV stigma out of it. One of the things I like about the Scout is it does not look like an EV. It would not hurt me one bit if people did not know I was driving an EV. I don't want one to...

POLL: towing a vehicle behind a motorhome

Yes and no. I have a motor home, technically - my wife purchased it and we call it the rolling turd (I think it's sole purpose was to prevent me from ever getting the motor home I actually wanted). That said, I do have a Wrangler and do occasionally tow it 4 down. Lots easier than putting it...

    Removable Rear Seats

My LJ seats are quick release - but the storage shelf is heavy so I rarely take that out, so virtually never keep the seats in place. Right now they happen to be in the LJ - but they are on the storage shelf. The seats don't fold flat - but flat enough I could put the shelf over them. But I...

What Song Will You Play First in Your New Scout?

is a possibility. It will probably be a 3 day cruise if I pick it up at the factory. Most likely not this - it is now my forever car wreck song I was singing that with the radio up when I hydroplaned my Camaro. Came too close to pealing the driver side off on a tree (hit the tree, but only...

    Potential completion - Telo

I have seen a lot of companies that are more interested in selling the idea of a product than actually manufacturing a product themselves. If I had to guess, they will try to get a handful on the road, then hope to sell the manufacturing rights to some other company. I could joke, and it might...

    Built-in hydraulic or electric jacks

I assume it was a joke. Hi-Lifts are far from the safest type of jack. X lift and bottle jacks are pretty much standard on vehicles - probably because they work and are cheap. I purchased an aluminum frame floor jack, that I converted to offroad use (removed the wheels and bolted on a full...

    Potential completion - Telo

I don't know what the chances of it's production are, or when that questionably possible production could happen (they are targeting end of 2026-but I can only assume that would be EXTREMELY limited production) and a starting price of $41,500. But they did have a couple planned features that...

The VW ID. Every1 Will Be One Of VW’s First Model To Implement Rivian’s Software In Europe.

I probably will get this wrong, but my understanding is Scout will have Rivian's back end, and custom front in. Looks like VW did not even bother with a custom front in.

    Diesel Range Extender option please.

Just as a joke, but since the generator does not directly drive the motor - it is just a generator. So could you legally use offroad diesel?

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

If you are going to put the headlight beam control on the floor - you might as well put the shifter on the column (oh, both are practically obsolete anyway).

    Battery Life Cycle

I guess a lot depends on how you define the lifespan of a vehicle. I own more than too many vehicles at the moment (adult children, etc...), and have 2 that are currently dependable enough to reasonably be used as daily drivers that are around 350k miles - and 3 others that are 20ish years old...

    Scout as an EV

I am an outlier personally - but many families are in the same position. I am not ready to go pure EV - EV's don't work for every situation yet. I will still have a gas vehicle, and add an EV to the stable. If I was dealing with a single vehicle - I probably would not want a BEV. But as a 2+...

Deep Dive into EREV - Ramcharger vs Harvester?

I guess it is semantics. This is a completely electric power train. If charge is fed to the battery at the same time that a load is applied - then sure, the charge is effectively bypassing the battery and directly connected to the motor controller. But I still think it is easier to think of...

Deep Dive into EREV - Ramcharger vs Harvester?

The real question will be how much the Harvester will produce. I did some quick calculations - it could be as low as 28kw/h, which would be about what is necessary for Steady State at 70mph (they have said the design goal was steady state at 70mph, and I am assuming that the range of the EV is...
