  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Top Five Accessories For The New Scout

There is a lot of appeal to what you write. Unfortunately Jamie has already stated that there will be several editions/models/trims. Somehow I hope that SM will find a middle ground between that method of manufacture and merchandising vs. the build it to suit method you (and I) hope for...

Top Five Accessories For The New Scout

If I heard correctly a neighbor who recently got hired by the USPS told me that he had to attend a week long course before the Post Office would allow him to drive a RHD vehicle. And I recall being told that Jeep wouldn't order you one unless you had a letter from the Post Office certifying...

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

I find it hard to imagine that the design team hasn't clearly heard the desire of many legacy owners for a removable top. It's heritage, and fun too. That said, making any vehicle with a removable or fold-down or convertible top is going to be a severe challenge against the rule-makers who...

    Audible pedestrian warning noise

When navigating a tricky trail through the woods, or up a rocky hillside I want to hear the crack of the tree's branch, the snap as the rocks shift, the crunch as metal hits whatever, NOT some manufactured sound that blots out one of my senses (hearing). And may I repeat, vehicles have long...

    Moab Road Trip Inspiration

Overkill. How can we keep the SM Scout even close to the target selling price if it needs to support all the things you need. And BTW, your list and mine are quite different — skip the coffee mugs but have my binoculars and camera right at my finger tips. Yes one of the cars I owned back in...

    Scout Swag

Ah yes. The current offering of swag is, shall we agree, corporate. Soooo, corporate. But then, until the new designs are revealed, and with them some possible new graphics and logos there isn't much to go on except our past - the script Scout logo. And @Jamie@ScoutMotors, thinking ahead...

    Northeast (PA/MD) Meetup?

There are several Scout groups in the area, a couple are multi-state, others more local; all have FaceBook presence. You'd be smart to check them.

    Northeast (PA/MD) Meetup?

Give a call to Adler's Antique Autos, in Stephentown, NY. 518-733-5749. Bob did a fine job on mine.

Top Five Accessories For The New Scout

Scout 80 and early 800 came without seatbelts but because certain states started requiring them IH provided threaded reinforced mounting points for the front seats starting in 63 (maybe before). The belts were dealer installed as required or requested. I don't believe rear seatbelts were ever...

    Daily Driver Comforts

J Alynn, I don't know whether to hit the REPORT button for insulting a new member, or to agree, or tell you you missed an opportunity. We are aware that some of the rock crawler crowd add a camera or two in each wheel-well, too. Are they too lazy to hop out and assess the situation or just...

    Dealerships Are Dying

I share the feeling "new car dealerships are terrible" that is oft stated in this thread. But there are exceptions. I live in a rural location 25 miles east of a major city and 20-30 miles west of a string of larger towns (big enough to support a Walmart). There are roughly 3-4 dozen dealers...

Top Five Accessories For The New Scout

Are you suggesting that SM affiliate with California Closets? A niche for everything that fits nothing else? No, please give us a clean simple truck with good access to systems, and appropriate functional accessories that allows me to adapt it to my needs without having to destroy or modify...

The Road to Scout Production - All the latest updates in one place...

Short history lesson: When IH was broken up and sold off, the local IH dealer bought the light truck division. That dealer was John Glancy's father. When John got older he with his brothers took over the business and established Super Scout Specialists. The Light Line as we know it today is...

Top Five Accessories For The New Scout

Chunky buttons sounds good. I sure don't want common controls hidden in the menus of a video screen. But I have a caution. Now that steering wheels have become almost disks in order to enclose the air bag and a multitude of controls they have become very effective is masking a lot of the dash...

I overlooked this discussion thread the first time around, I'm glad it has revived. I don't care much about Jeeps or Broncos, what I care about is suitability to task. I recently got an earful from a Toyota dealer telling me how the demand is shifting away from the big pickups while corporate...

The Road to Scout Production - All the latest updates in one place...

Glad to see this gesture of respect toward the Legacy Scouts and the IH ancestry. The lack of a Scout 80 in the lineup is disappointing, since they truly started it all. Admittedly, though, an 80 might have slightly slowed the procession of this very welcome show of respect.

Scout EV - OS Feature - Driver Incapacitated/Medical Emergency Protocol

Good reason to keep my legacy Scout 80s ready to go. They only listen to me, not some computer and its satellite. Now, ... ... ... if it were safe to stockpile gasoline. Damn, I sold the one with the siren and flashing red lights, maybe I should buy it back for real emergencies.

    Scout Design Ideas

That should only be necessary if SM follows the current (North American) pickup trend to make vehicles as high off the ground as possible. I hope they look to the original Scouts and Rivian for guidance in this respect. As I often said when buying my '23 Tundra "I want the power without the...
