    Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

    How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

    Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy.     If the EV Scout is to ultimately be a utility vehicle then I cannot see many of those items. Yes I know SM will have to sell a lot to the mass market Sport (aka daily driver) crowd, so those perks seem necessary. I hope we eventually get a model close to the bare bones Scout 80s that I love...

    I agree wholeheartedly, why not just open it with the flick of a finger like most of my other vehicles do? KISS, even a spring latch gets cranky when filled with dusty dirt. OTOH, perhaps SM made it motorized as a security measure, perhaps to prevent pilfering of power?

    That dark brown with golden metallic flecks was around for Toyota's Tundra in very limited numbers in 2023, I have also caught it on a couple of other models. Toyota called it mesquite; I agree, it is stunning.

    What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

    I guess some of the reluctance comes from dependence upon a resistance sensor that's supposed to stop/reverse the closing window if it senses a child's arm or dog's leg. I've owned several vehicles that claim that capability but I am still reluctant to commit a body part to testing its reliability.

    Point about coolness factor well taken. Admittedly the ones that slip over the ball, result in a less than perfect arrangement except fairly light duty tasks, but in a dedicated mount that fits the hitch receiver they should be quite effective.

    Whether here or perhaps more importantly in the Trunk, Frunk, and interior, there's also a need for a 12vDC outlet to power the wide array of appliances and accessories that already exist in the aftermarket.

    And let us hope that trim levels will be irrelevant in SM, and that ordering (accessorizing) to our needs is primary.

    Another call for the rebirth of JC Whitney. Although some sound interesting, all I can ask SM to include is space to run wires, simple panel designs that are easy to mount to. In short, keep it simple enough that we can work on adding stuff.

    As I see it wraps are a temporary thing, seems like 7 years max if you really baby it. I want a colour that lasts like my 59+ year old Scout has, same as when we bought it in 1964.
