  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Daily Driver Comforts

Oh please, we are here trying to bring back a vehicle with the essence of the Scout. Scout Motors promised to hit a low price point with a practical car/truck. I have been driving 70 years without 16 cameras showing me everything within 10 feet. Somehow I have managed to park without watching...

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

No but I believe there is a real difference - despite the advertizing. The Tundra has the "off road package" and a "crawl mode" which does fit it better for construction sites and mountain forest roads, etc. But certainly not the kind of "off-road" Jeff Ismail does with his vehicles. It all...

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

I have several of those lights scattered around the front compartment of my '23 Tundra, I agree the design is such that you hardly notice them. But there is no way short of electrical tape to turn them off. There are times, limited but real, when I really need to sit in total darkness in a...

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

I fear you R1TVT and prattm1964 are all too correct. But if you are building a vehicle specifically sold for off-roading shouldn't there be concessions from the nanny state like a kill switch on the air bags (maybe it would come back on at >10mph). And other accommodations to the use? I expect...

    Auto-dimming Headlights

Auto-dimming headlights have been around so long now that we all just expect them to work. On some vehicles, however, they also dim when slowing below 20mph or going around a tight curve. That perhaps is fine in urban situations, for us rural dwellers with long steep curvy driveways it's a...

    Green Spaghetti & Ham

As the owner of several Scout 80s I cry out that the wiring be multicoloured and easily traceable. Scout people like to add to their vehicles, many addons are electrical, we need to be able to find an appropriate hot wire in the closest harness. Colour coding is a start, even better is wire...

    Accessories / Aftermarket

I really like that moveable winch idea. To be useful, though in off-road situations, it would have to be very openly accessible.

    Function over form

We will have to agree the everyone is different. We have two, a 2017 RAV4 and 2023 Tundra. And just sold a solid 2013 Tundra. Many happy miles on them.

    Function over form

Well here is a picture of the new 2024 Land Cruiser. The page with this picture is titled "Simplicity Comes Standard". It's not far from what I imagine the new Scouts will look like. Here's the text from that page: «Whether you’re an off-road purist or simply seeking an uncomplicated ride...

    Daily Driver Comforts

We read a lot about having to keep the batteries cool with an a/c system just for that. Could that excess heat be siphoned off and directed toward cabin comfort instead of running an a/c unit?

    Rodents!

Absolutely, rodent proof with steel screening. I live on the edge of the forest so we have them all (except the big city rats). I have had a chipmunk stand on a spring and chew a hole in the side of the fuel pipe between the fuel door and the tank in my Tundra. Other critters took all the...

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

I like your ideas of direct-fit modularity, allowing certain items like tailgates, bulkheads, tops to be swapped in/out or refitted as the needs of the owner change. Those big clamshell rear doors definitely have limited purpose and appeal. As you state going topless with one of them leaves...

Small Things Matter: Charger Port Lighting

Speaking of charging ports, the world of USB connectors is in transition and clearly headed to USB-C, yet the old faithful USB-A connector doesn't seem to be going away. It is on the other end of many charging and connecting wires. Some vehicles come with both, and my hunch is that may still...

    Northeast (PA/MD) Meetup?

NOTE: the software that runs these forums translates links from ENGLISH to GERMAN. i have tested them, they still work correctly. You guys wanting a meetup in PA should think about just going to the ATCA IH Chapter meet in Muncy, PA. The International Motor Truck Gathering must be in it's...

    Help finding my Scout II

You will have more luck in your search if you post this request in several of the Scout groups on Facebook. There are a couple of regional groups that cover the area, plus several more general groups for Scout IIs.

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

The problem of polaroid glasses and screens seems to be being addressed by some manufacturers. Two years ago when I was only 81 the idea of a heated steering wheel would have been anathema to me. Two years later the arthritis in my hands is thankful for it every time I get in my new Tundra...

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

In a parallel story I was told that Mahindra was all lined up to take on the Scout line but some banking or political interests scuttled the project. I wonder if any new designs or changes were part of that deal that fell through?

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

This recent revival of this thread prompted another look at those sketches. Unfortunately, having looked at the marketplace and having owned seven Scouts I see a real conundrum. The sketches do not say Scout to me. The say something like crossing a Rivian with a Ford Flex - with futuristic...

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

Maybe. I have all those cameras on my Tundra and I marvel at the computer work that melds them into continuous images with minimal distortion. That one where they simulate a drone hovering 15' above the truck is like WOW. They are wonderful, mostly. But there are times when the light is...

    Scout Mobile Companion Concept

Fine start. I have something similar for my Toyota. One feature that needs to be on the first screen, surely not buried far down, is window status and the ability to control them remotely. Like when you're in the house and it starts to rain, you just want to instantly close them. Or...
