  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

NADA going after Scout Direct to Consumer

Scout is an independent company. NADA are claiming Scout will be competing against their own VW and Audi dealerships, they are not. They also claim “the franchise system is the best and most-efficient way to deliver the customer experience that today’s marketplace demands”. The claim that car...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

Scout have not set any expectations that the vehicle will keep going forever on gas. It gets 500 miles. Then you’ll probably be looking to charge. It’s primarily an EV, Sout’s concept artwork shows a small generator that can only possibly serve to extend the life of the battery. It can’t be...

Option for a Rugged/Waterproof Interior Trim

I’m a little worried that the interior design is not going to be easy enough to clean. For example, the space behind the touchscreen is going to collect dust and be very difficult to clean. I get it, that open space makes the interior feel light. But in real world use it might make the interior...

    Confirmed….Scout using Rivian’s software…

I believe buttons should ideally indicate state through their position. So a switch is flicked up and stays up or down and stays down or a button is pushed in and stays in. This way, the state is communicated clearly, without even looking, just through touch. When things are also controlled from...

Scout Dimensions Updated On Our Website

It appears the tire carrier is going to depend on tire size and other options like Harvester. 35’s were shown on the reveal vehicles (this size will apparently require the tire carrier). 32’s will be apparently be available from the factory (and will fit under the vehicle, but perhaps only if...

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

They just said gas. Scouts images show a very small engine that fits under the truck bed, more-or-less in the space available for the 32 in spare wheel. This retains the cargo space, but will evidently force the spare wheel to be carried on the back of the Traveller or in the bed of the Terra...

    Confirmed….Scout using Rivian’s software…

When it comes to software the people writing the code are usually just focussed on making something work rather than future maintenance and tech debt inflation. The resources needed to keep something working and secure in the future often far outweigh the resources needed to build it in the...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

This is one of the best videos to come from the reveal event. I learned a lot of new information not covered elsewhere. Also some great interviews with the Scout Community.

    Missing the mark

We max out at about 700 miles a day on a road trip. But we’re ready for a meal break before 500 miles so I think we’ll be o.k. with a 40 min charging/eating break. Our favorite campsite is 350 miles away. If it’s possible to run the Harvester to replenish the battery at camp I might not need to...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

That’s not how these systems work. The engine in the Fisher Karma only sends power into the battery. This does make a bit more power available to the electric motor because it can now draw more amps without causing the battery voltage to drop.

    Confirmed….Scout using Rivian’s software…

Keep in mind that this is a new software company, it has access to Rivian’s IP and apparently several Rivian engineers were transferred to work for the new company. They’ll be taking what Rivian did and using it as the foundation of next a generation system that fills VW Group needs. So we...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

At the end of the day the Harvester will enable 500 miles of range. And for the entire 500 miles we’ll have the awesome performance of two electric motors that can give you a 3.5 sec 0-60. That’s more than enough torque for towing, although the distance between charges will obviously be shorter...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

This space is a bit more compact because it also has to provide part of the departure angle and the thickness of the rear skid plate. there also needs to be a gap between the engine and the floor of the vehicle/truck bed.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

The curb weight might be similar, what you save with a smaller battery size you need to add in the engine. The smaller the battery, the bigger the engine. We’ll have to wait and see if one vehicle ends up much lighter than the other.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

The engine is the orange part in the image. That is tiny. Far smaller than a 1.5L engine ! It has to fit under the bed of the truck, basically in the space where the under-mounted spare goes. Like I said before, even if a 1.5L could deliver the power to run the vehicle continuously (you also...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

The pure EV range is said to be 150 miles but that might only mean that the Harvester kicks in at 150 miles not that the pack is empty. Scout says they are only making the pack “a little bit smaller” to make room for a gas tank. You’re suggesting the pack is less than half size. That’s not “a...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

Another data point is the fact that a Scout rep told someone at the reveal that the Harvester version will probably cost less to build than the regular BEV. So it seems that at least someone at Scout thinks they are using an inexpensive engine.
