  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Rear Window - Flip Up Option

I have glass just like the OP asked for in my old ZJ. I use it, probably similar to how you use the liftgate on your LR. If I have a long thing that I'm putting into the vehicle (last week it was a 10ft pipe for a weather station), I slid it in through the back glass, up to the passenger...

Manual Release Latch/Cable for Traveler Split Tailgate

I'd even go so far as to say, I would prefer it to be a manually operated liftgate all the time myself. But if you're going to do it with electronics, please don't leave us SOL when we're out in the middle of nowhere. In December my family and I went on a short road trip in my 1997 ZJ. The...

Rear Window - Flip Up Option

I "think" we already know this. And from the sound of what Jamie said, it is not coming. https://scoutmotors.community.forum/threads/removable-traveler-spare-tire-mount.1534/post-19789

    Comparing preorders to Bronco sales

There has been a a new Marketing campaign? I haven’t seen a single bit of marketing materials from scout. Then again, I don’t watch sports, or TV, and use ad-blockers. So I guess that puts me off the radar. But like others, id guess production will start out relatively slow, and take a...

Wireless charging for phone with bench seat configuration

They’ve mentioned that the production version of the bench seat will have a console. We don’t know that will look like, but I do imagine that it has a very high chance to include something like a wireless charger.

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Ooo, oo, I got this. Turns out, Microsoft Paint is way more capable than it used to be... while simultaneously being very, very "Microsoft Paint-y" :D. (Sorry, as soon as you said it, I thought "like going into hyperspace!", and had to try it out :D).

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

I totally agree that this should be one of the options for the Traveler. Personally, I don't quite want a "space saver"/tiny doughnut spare, as those are just so limiting. But I'd be totally open to a smaller (diameter, width, or both) option. Copy Pasta from another thread. The "not quite...

    Cabin Pre-conditioning while out "adventuring"?

I know that Cabin pre-heating/cooling is a thing that many EV owners use, when they have a consistent schedule (ie, I leave for work every morning at 8am, make sure the car is 70f). This is based on that, but different. Here is what I'm envisioning, roughly. "I expect to be back to the vehicle...

Range extender - please adjust spec to 250 miles of EV Range

This is my understanding as well. Right now it seems like Solid state batteries are a "mayyyyybe we might see them becoming available by 2028-2030" sort of thing. But Scout is designing the vehicles NOW. They have to lock in designs at some point, and can't perpetually wait for new stuff. So...

    Automatic Retractable Electric Running Boards

Fwiw, I’m nowhere near as tall as you (6’1” on the dot barefoot, 6’2” or thereabouts in shoes), but my inseam is longer relative to my torso than a lot of guys my size (a buddy an inch or two taller than me needs to drop my bikes seat to ride it if we swap). But tall enough that I can just...

    Automatic Retractable Electric Running Boards

I'd be totally down with a set of rock rails that had a small step like that. I'd just be warry of any "protuberances" (bulbous extra bits sticking out) that would cause problems while wheeling. Sometimes I've seen ones like that, but with bigger "landing pads" for the front/back doors, which...

Miles of Range Added Per Minute?

I'm more concerned with the charging curve, than the charger, personally. Because the chargers will continue to change while I own the vehicle. But the charging curve should stay relatively static after purchase (can be adjusted some with updates, but its also not like software updates can...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Saw this today. The charging is "quite good". Caveat, that the range, is using the chinese range estimate (CLTC), is usually regarded as "exceptionally optimistic". Converting the CLTC range to EPA range, gives you a range estimate of ~421km (263 miles).

How will the scouts handle the extreme cold?

Oh, absolutely agree on all of it. More was showing "uh, its definitely a justifiable worry" for the general public, and that I understood why it was a topic. Interesting about the final drive ratio differences, as that part I hadn't dug into that level for the Equinox quite yet. And one I...

How will the scouts handle the extreme cold?

So, saw this article today. Basically, the Equinox has an EPA range of 306 miles. They drove at 75mph on a day when it was -6f, and they got 150 miles out of the first 90% of the battery, with an estimated ~19miles remaining, and an efficiency of ~1.7 miles per KWh...

    Sound suppression

Agreed. There are huge differences in tire noise. (Anecdotally, I just put some Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT's on my Jeep. They are "on road all terrain tires", and are impressively quiet compare to the Wrangler Duratracs I had on there before, and still maintain the 3peak M/S rating. I'm...

Make Sure Traveler is drivable with tailgate/liftgate open.

TBH thats also a major consideration for me. I might use the tire carrier on longer trips, but as it doesn't fit in my garage with the carrier on it (furnace and water heater eating the space on that side), I'd likely leave the carrier off around town. I've said a few times, but I feel like we...

Hot take: 18-22" Wheels on Base Model

(Wheels are the metal part that bolt to the vehicle with lugnuts, the tires are the rubber bit that goes on the wheel and touches the ground)
