  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Paddle Shifters For Adjusting Regen

Yes exactly. My car allows you to mimic how both of those feel. You can set it to "regen level 0" which feels like a manual transmission (with the clutch in) when you lift off the accelerator so you just coast until you hit the brake (in this scenario the brake would then activate regen to...

    Paddle Shifters For Adjusting Regen

I would say that even in the instances where an OEM allows you to "disable" regen - ie "regen level 0" in my car - regen is still used to slow the car when the brake pedal is pressed. What the different regen settings change is effectively how much "engine drag" you feel when lifting off the...

    Paddle Shifters For Adjusting Regen

Yes, absolutely! That's the exact point I and others have been trying to make here. Some car makers have given drivers a selection of different modes all the way from coasting like a gas car (ie very little regen) to one pedal driving like a golf cart (ie the Tesla way) and everything in...

    Yes!! Exactly!

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Fear of the unknown is natural and human. It's how you address the fear that matters. Learning about new things, being curious, and keeping an open mind are what sets some people apart from being unthinking reactionaries stumbling around in the dark.

Or just buy better inverters from trusted companies? So being dependent on the whims of an oil monopoly is somehow better than generating your own energy? I don't get it. What a rage-bait silly article.

Just because Scout supports a feature like this doesn't mean you need to use it. I'd love for the Scouts to have this. Again, having choices is good!

Expert Car Designer Analysis of Scout Traveler and Terra

lol this guy is hilarious. He keeps saying he's not a fan of EV because of the "practicality" and "inconvenience" of it, like he doesn't live in a house with electricity or something :ROFLMAO: My dude, you can literally refuel your electric Scout from an outlet in your barn. I'm betting you...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

If you hold the right-hand regen paddle for a few seconds it'll go into "auto regen" mode which is the best. It dynamically adjusts the regen strength based on what's happening in front of you.

Yep, the widely reported narrative of "EV sales" being "in decline" is false. It's a narrative being pushed by both the oil industry through 'astro-turf' industry groups as well as lagging automakers led by Toyota and Stellantis. It's an objectively false narrative that the data has never...

Sure, still no new information there. It's a year behind schedule and they haven't released even basic details about it yet even though it's supposedly coming out in a few months.

Can't say I'm surprised. The Stellantis brands are so far behind in EVs already and they seem to really be struggling with making the transition. Whatever happened to the Jeep Recon? It's been almost radio silence for years now on that one!

    Paddle Shifters For Adjusting Regen

I mostly just want to be able to turn off one-pedal driving. It would also be nice to adjust how strong the regen feels because yes, sometimes it nice to not have regen and to just coast.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Yes that was a thing but only on certain versions of certain models. The reason Tesla could do that is because for their cheapest version of the Model 3 or Y they artificially limited the size of the battery through software. So people bought what was essentially the mid-trim vehicle physically...

    Paddle Shifters For Adjusting Regen

A lot of people DO NOT like or want One Pedal Driving. I'm one of those people. From the public EV outreach I've been doing for years I can tell you most people who are new to EVs also don't like OPD. It's weird and makes driving uncomfortable until you get the hang of it. If Scout is trying to...

    Paddle Shifters For Adjusting Regen

It sounds more complicated but it really isn't. You can also just set and forget with paddles, but it's really nice to be able to adjust things for those of us that want to do that. I like having choice and not being shoehorned into a "Tesla/Rivian knows best - here's the only option" type of...

    Paddle Shifters For Adjusting Regen

I adjust my regen setting every single time I'm in the car. It's not a constant adjustment or anything but sometimes I don't want regen (like when I hop on to the highway for a bit) and other times I want regen to be just a little bit more aggressive. It depends on what I'm doing but personally...

    Paddle Shifters For Adjusting Regen

Yeah, you seem to be misunderstanding what the paddles actually do. There are a pair of paddles on the steering wheel, the right paddle increases the aggressiveness of the regeneration while the left paddle decreases it. They control the intensity of the regen (ie how fast the car decelerates)...

    Paddle Shifters For Adjusting Regen

They aren't a gimmick, they offer choice to those of us who hate the Tesla experience. My car has paddles to adjust regen and they're incredibly useful. I much prefer them over the Tesla way of doing things. Give owners the choice like Hyundai and Kia have and don't force them into a single...

    Dynamic Power Management

Even then, there are chargers on the market like EV Duty which have the ability to monitor a home's current draw and will limit the use of the charger until there is enough capacity on the panel. So if you have a 100A panel with a hot tub for example, it'll wait until the hot tub is off before...
