  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Scout Brand Ambassdor Program

I like the idea behind a "All-American Rescue" as VW rescued the Scout brand.

Consumer Freedom and Scout Motors in South Carolina

As a consumer and resident of SC, I feel the need to apologize for our state politics. It is a great place to work, live and play, however there are some downsides and you just witnessed the back scratching politics Here's the headlines from the postandcourier.com a while back: Closing the...

Consumer Freedom and Scout Motors in South Carolina

I thinking that SM can hire us as Beta Testers and once that test period is up, they sell us that "Used Vehicle". There's bound to be hundreds of loopholes. I mean it's laws made be these men...they can't be bullet proof.

South Carolina Scouts! Your voice is heard: Direct sales bill gets a hearing on Wednesday!

There's so many... It doesn't take much to find the abuses of VW dealers. My last link on the subject: https://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/cars/news-blog/2025-volkswagen-id-buzz-markups-remain-ridiculous-44511109#:~:text=Instead%20of%20easing%2C%20the%20situation,being%20rare%20could%20be%20short.

South Carolina Scouts! Your voice is heard: Direct sales bill gets a hearing on Wednesday!

This is why dealers are crying and want to sell Scouts...I have not verified the info in this thread but I don't doubt it for a minute. I wish this would have been brought up in the hearing but Cody and those for the bill were playing nice. Bottom line is that dealers aren't to be trusted.

South Carolina Scouts! Your voice is heard: Direct sales bill gets a hearing on Wednesday!

First of all, thanks for the clarification of the outcome. I was also taken back by the comments at the end after such strong points given in favor by you and the other speakers versus the weak {non-consumer} points by those against. If you consider Rep Wooten's point about his service...

I hope you are wrong too, but I have the same feeling.

South Carolina Scouts! Your voice is heard: Direct sales bill gets a hearing on Wednesday!

It was the hearing comment by Rep. Anderson near the end that his "dealerships were crying" that got me stoked. I apologize, I shouldn't have blamed you for the rant. That was too strong, I know.

South Carolina Scouts! Your voice is heard: Direct sales bill gets a hearing on Wednesday!

Great job to Cody and those speaking in favor of the bill. All points were valid and what stood out was that this was not about just Scout Motors, it was giving SC consumers choice. On the other hand, those speaking against the bill were all about their families and their entitlement due to...

South Carolina Scouts! Your voice is heard: Direct sales bill gets a hearing on Wednesday!

The committee hearing starts now. I know dealers, lobbyists and NADA are there in force trying to manipulate our state laws. NADA says dealers "provide(s) tremendous value to automakers and consumers alike". This goes to show how out of touch they are with reality. But frankly, it is just words...

Direct sales bill gets a hearing on Wednesday, February 12 in Columbia, South Carolina. We can only hope that the committee and our state legislators realize that they are elected by more consumers in our state than those employed by dealerships. It's time for a change!

    Scout as an EV

So, exactly what J Alynn said. That is basically my path to reserving a new Scout. At first, I was truly disappointed when I heard the new Scout was to be an EV. My dad had a Scout 800, I bought a brand new 1979 Scout II that I still own. Scout being an EV just didn't "feel right". But this...

Cold Climate Auxiliary Heat From Harvester ICE

These are good ideas, but for the sake of simplicity and cost, I would prefer that SM make it simple for a DIY'er or aftermarket company to provide solutions, at least for aux cabin heat. If the Scout were to have a "port" or blank flange in the floor, let's say a 6" diameter hole that went from...

Consumer Freedom and Scout Motors in South Carolina

Thanks to @LastDayScout and fellow South Carolinians who have voiced their concerns for our antiquated state laws. Removable Rear Seats

My 2001 Toyota Sequoia has removable third row seats that I rarely put in due to the space and extra weight of the vehicle. There are no bolts, they simply latch into the bed of the truck. They can fold down but not flat. The newer Sequoias have fold flat which honestly take up a lot of cargo...
