  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Road Trip in a VW Buzz: Success or Train Wreck

Any cars that use cell tech have an issue with sunsetting. Early GM cars with Onstar were 2G and won't work anymore without new hardware. It will happen to 4G someday too.

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

I can't see diesel being used. Most car buyers don't want to deal with it. It's more expensive than gas, needs DEF fluid or particulate filters, not available everywhere. If Scout sources the engine from VW then Dieselgate enters the equation. All the other technical questions you asked are...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

IH did sell Scouts with Nissan diesels for a few years. I can't see diesel making an appearance in the new one. It's essentially dead outside of commercial applications. The legacy of Dieselgate also makes it unlikely. Both Scout and VW would be heavily scrutinized.

    Crumble Zones and Crash Tests.

It may require a little extra engineering to ensure the middle passenger of the bench seat is protected by an airbag. I'm sure they'll work it out.

It makes sense. Dodge has also accelerated the release date of the ICE-engined Charger. You have to build what people want.

    Questions about the Harvester

Off-road tires get poorer fuel economy because of the aggressive tread and higher rolling resistance. Software won't change that. Improvements will come from the tire manufacturers. I'm sure they are working on it, but for now off-road tires=poorer range.

    Questions about the Harvester

It seems to depend on the manufacturer and how you drive it. I've seen highway tests of the ID Buzz that were way lower on pure highway, but exceeded the EPA number in City driving. There are so many variables. Of course a VW van is a giant brick and driving 75 mph doesn't do wonders for range...

    Questions about the Harvester

EPA range number is 55% City /45% highway. https://www.thedrive.com/guides-and-gear/how-the-epa-determines-ev-range[/URL Highway range is usually not as good as the EPA but not as low as 50%. It really depends on the manufacturer. Car and driver is a great resource for this. They put most of...

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

I read that after about a year a Chevy Volt would start running the engine to burn off the gasoline before it became stale and gummed things up. I'm sure Scout will have safeguards.

Poll- What have you Reserved... Let's get a small idea of the take rates.

It's fun to speculate. We've got a couple of years to debate things! Whatever will we talk about when the full Harvester details are released? 😉

Poll- What have you Reserved... Let's get a small idea of the take rates.

My assumptions are based on technology that's available for purchase today and what will be available in two years. I'm aware of no vehicle for sale today that meets any of Scout's estimated figures (0-60, range, price). EV technology is advancing in Leaps and Bounds. An ICE vehicle for sale 3...

Poll- What have you Reserved... Let's get a small idea of the take rates.

Scout CEO Scott Keogh said a year ago in an interview, "The SUV will be launched first, likely in 2026, with the pickup to follow six to seven months later." I've heard nothing to contradict or confirm that since so there's a chance not all models and trims will be available at launch. That's...

Poll- What have you Reserved... Let's get a small idea of the take rates.

I think Scout's estimates for price and range consider battery/tech improvements and cost reductions.

    Harvester Rex Tuning/chipping

The upcoming Ramcharger's gas extender range far exceeds its electric-only range. Perhaps the EPA rule has changed or it's being interpreted differently?
