  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

I've always thought that mobile servicing is the real reason Scouts are designed to allow 80% of repairs done in the driveway. The self-repair angle seems more like marketing than an act of altruism by Scout.

No service centers have been built, so things can indeed change. Canceling at this point does seem premature, but to each their own. The more Canadian reservations, the more likely Scout will expand their service network up North. 80% user serviceability is great in theory, but not helpful for...

The Automotive News article from October said no service centers for Canada in year one: The first 25 locations will be in 16 major markets, from New York to Miami and Seattle to San Diego. The 25 locations will either be Scout Studios, where customers shop and interact with a sales adviser...

    Resale Value/Depreciation

In the USA, the 8-year/100k-mile warranty covers the EV battery, not the powertrain (motors).

Scout Motors Debuts Unlimited Range EV With Perpetual Motion Harvester

The sitcom American Auto had a funny episode with a perpetual motion storyline. Uneven sitcom, but it had it's moments.

    Resale Value/Depreciation

I don't see how anything Scout does will affect resale other than making a kick-ass product. I do think Harvester models will depreciate less. Being a hybrid and not a pure EV should increase desireability and value.

Scout Motors Debuts Unlimited Range EV With Perpetual Motion Harvester

Automotive dealers do the right thing: they admit they've had an unfair monopoly and gouged customers for decades. They immediately drop all opposition to direct to consumer sales and lobby state governments to change laws to benefit consumers (a guy can dream, can't he?).

With all the environmental laws in California, a new kind of battery will be invented before any mining gets done there (semi-joking)! Endless surveys and studies.

    Battery Type

Yep. And I get it. I was excited when I read about solid state a few years ago. Then the truth comes out. Someday, it will be a thing. Or it won't. Either way, I'll be driving something that brings me joy, hopefully a Scout.

    Battery Type

Every automaker is "looking into" solid state. And every year there's a "breakthrough", and it's always a few years away. It will definitely speed up EV adoption in the USA when it arrives, but it seems doubtful for 1st-gen Scout.

    Self-driving integration with Open Pilot.

It's interesting tech that also looks like a ambulance chaser's wet dream. Automakers already get sued for ridiculous things. There are legions of lawyers champing at the bit for full self-driving cases. I see no reason to rush to level 4 or 5 autonomy, even if they're theoretically safer...

FYI--The Tayron is sold in the USA as the Tiguan (sans third row here). The Tiguan in Europe is smaller.
