We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

    Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

    How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

    Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

    Road Trip in a VW Buzz: Success or Train Wreck

    The VW/Rivian agreement is about software and electrical architecture. Using charging stations would probably cost extra money. Since Scout will be able to access Tesla superchargers, is the Rivian network even necessary?

    Northeast Ohio is likely not a priority for a Scout facility. I would guess not before year 3. But Hope springs eternal, just like our expectations for the Browns every year!

    Crab walk requires 4-wheel steering and isn't feasible. An air suspension can be used for a "bounce mode". Mercedes offered it in the GLE and GLS. It's pretty cool and does have an off-road purpose. It would be neat to have, but not for a premium...

    Questions about the Harvester

    Motor Trend compared the GMC Sierra EV to the Rivian tri-motor. The GMC is rated at 440 miles. Motor Trend went 422 mi @70 mph using 95% of the battery. Impressive. Rivian travelled 267 miles against a 329 mile rating in the same test...

    What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

    The VW ID.Buzz offers it. Perhaps it will be a future option. Cadillac offers a version in the Celestiq with 4 individually controllable sections for the passengers--pretty cool!

    Spare tire discussion

    If the Harvester is indeed in the rear of the Scout, there may not be room for a spare there. The only options would be external, internal cargo area, or frunk.

    Travelall 3 Row

    The Terra's wheelbase is over 2 ft. longer than the Traveler's, so a 3-row version based on the Terra seems doable. The general public would surely love it, but the Scout enthusiasts here also love a smaller 2-door.

    I would appreciate if they would use some of that VW know-how and design the doors to close with a solid "thunk". No tinny doors, please.

    US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

    It's electric. Every other minivan is gas or hybrid. Plus, it's made in Germany and doesn't qualify for the $7,500 tax credit. We also get a long wheelbase model that is well equipped. Europe offers a more affordable shorter one.

    That 231 range is optimistic, too. Car and Driver got only 190 miles@75 mph. The ID Buzz would benefit from a Harvester system. I hope Scout has a range closer to the EPA figure, but I won't be surprised if they don't.

    A 30 second Superbowl ad is $7 million. Scout won't be on sale for at least 2 years. It's a colossal waste of money to advertise a product that can't even be ordered. It would only serve to annoy people.

    No, I have never considered that. I'm glad you have your priorities straight! 😉 I've never owned an EV, so I will defer to those that have. The Harvester fuel filler has to go somewhere, ideally close to the tank.
