  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I saw that article title and was hoping it was a pickup version of the Kia PV5, but the article text says it is not. Which is a shame, I think a pickup based on the PV5 would be really cool, especially after seeing the videos of the Kia PV5 passenger van.

    Military and Fleet

Sounds like the Scouts (or any BEV for that matter) will be excellent for your needs. With no engine noise and no emissions, using a BEV should be nicer then a ICE when operating below ground (and above ground too! :)). Depending on how you setup camp, a BEV can reduce the need for a camp site...

    Military and Fleet

You got me, my curiosity is engaged. Can you share some of the unique requirements you would be interested in for a vehicle like the Traveler or Terra?

    User programmable starting option

I like the idea of an optional key code security requirement on the screen. But it doesn't need to be complicated with a scrambled keypad - it is a touchscreen for the car's features. The screen is going to get touched all over and smeared if they use swiping gestures in the interface. This is...

What Song Will You Play First in Your New Scout?

I'm kinda surprised that no one has suggested "Ride of the Valkyries by Richard Wagner" as the first song they will play in their new Scout.

    Wishlist

Why does everyone want an air compressor built into the vehicle? I have seen the request for an air compressor a couple of times, and it confuses me. There are small portable air compressors that run off an internal battery that seem like they are a lot more useful than having a compressor...

Scout Applies to Trademark 29 Names

Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I just found this. One thing that jumped out to me - this trademarked slogans list is missing "Scouts always come back." Since that is the slogan on their main web page, is that slogan already trademarked by Scout, and that is why it is not on the list?

Just for fun…Have you named your Scout already?

Some other ideas based on the idea that the trucks will be "quiet" rather than "electric": Whisper Golden ("Silence is Golden") Shadow (if you get black) Nightfall (if you get grey)

Just for fun…Have you named your Scout already?

Some ideas for naming a Scout EV, off the top of my head: Sparky (though this name is probably overused by now) Wyatt (perfect for an off-road build, yes?) Joules Kilovolt (the Scouts will be a lot bigger than the Chevy Volt after all) D-Cell (which sounds like "diesel" when spoken, so could be...

How do you plan to kit out your interior?

Why do you need fifty grocery bags?
  12. BeerParty

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

As others have said, how long the EV can provide power depends on the load and state of charge when the power goes out. But if you are curious, you can search YouTube - I have seen a few videos of people using their EVs to provide power during an outage. They usually say what they powered and...

What Song Will You Play First in Your New Scout?

For anyone that is seriously considering a factory pickup and long road trip in your new Scout - I suggest getting an audiobook. I invested in a bunch when I had a long commute to work and still fall back to "rereading" some of them when I have a long road trip. I find the time passes much...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

You will not need the Harvester (gas generator) to do this. Most pure Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) can provide AC electrical power, either directly or with an adapter. There are a lot of factors and TLA (Three Letter Acronyms) like V2L and V2H you'll need to become familiar with to understand...

[Terra] Double cab with a 6.5' bed

+1 to this. I want Scout to focus on the vehicles that will appeal to the largest number of people. While there is a vocal group that wants the longer bed, based on the marketplace they are a minority. I want Scout to succeed, and to do that they need to target the maximum number of people with...

    Major Storms

Sorry to hear about the power being out, but glad that you were not hurt and that your house was undamaged by the falling tree. I hope you got your power back on quickly.
  17. BeerParty

What feature(s) do you hope that Scout does NOT include?

One thing I do not want is a gimmicky tailgate on the Terra. I know there are a bunch of options for pickup truck tailgates these days, but to me most of them look like something that will break when stressed. The Scout's are targeting off road enthusiasts, which (I hope) means a focus on...

Bi-directional Charging / Home Power Backup

To answer your second request - this has already been covered extensively by Scout and the community. Go to their main site or search this forum for "Harvester" or "EREV". To answer your first request - if you need "auto kick-in" for your power backup solution, I suggest looking at the...

Switching Harvester to All EV Model?

Currently, I own a hybrid that provides 400 miles of range and a BEV that gives 300 miles (when it is warm). I have a similar dilemma, @dreamweaver . So, I am taking the same approach as you and waiting on final specs before considering a switch.
