  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Range and Competitiveness

I think for me, IF the harvester can just keep getting gas filled and you don't have to stop and charge the battery on the road, it'd be perfect. I charge at home and would use the 150 EV range for 90%+ of my miles, but then when I make a longer trip, just knowing I don't have to do...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

I know... and I'm BEYOND thrilled with 500 mile range in a full size SUV. I just checked the 2024 Tahoe (gasser) and it gets 17mpg with a 24 gallon tank for 408 miles of range. I will be able to go farther on the first tank in the Scout, and almost as long on an extended trip between gas...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Thanks for the insights. I love that you get free charging through your lease, one thing I would really, really stress to people considering an EV or that have one.... The magic of an EV is that you almost NEVER have to charge OUTSIDE of home or think of it. It is only on long trips a few...

Scout shows off the UX at CES!

Agreed, this video is amazing and has doubled down my desire to have a Scout again. Now, if only I could justify the Traveler AND Terra

Road Trip in a VW Buzz: Success or Train Wreck

I'll answer this, but hope the other person does as well. I expect to mostly charge at home, like 99% of the time. The second most used charge would be at my destination (I have family 2 hours away in Longview, for example, so charging at their house would be a normal thing.) For true...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

why wouldn't you just run the Scout's heat pump? Why take up space for the diesel heater and all the accutrements?

Road Trip in a VW Buzz: Success or Train Wreck

My road trips are a mix. I live in the West where there are big gaps between cities if you head east or SE. That said, the 350 miles on battery gets me easily to almost anyplace I want to go, even multi day offroading trips. I did get the Harvester just for those times we might take vacation...

What 16 Metro's Will Scout Launch?

I hope Seattle makes the list to give folks in the NW something close. We're like number 21 out of North America's largest cities, but 16 out of US, so hopefully we make it. I would think they'd want the events spread around the country a bit, so that you get seed sales on the road in all...

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

The i3 did that. It would kick on and run for 10 minutes once a month or so while doing normal driving around with nothing required from the driver (it had some kind of timer).

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

That was not my experience in our 2015 i3. I could hold 70 on a fairly level freeway.

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

Having owned an i3, what he's referring to is that in the US, the gas generator could ONLY come on when the main traction battery was basically dead. The gas generator did not put out enough power to drag the car along at 70MPH up hills, resulting in some dangerous situations. the options are...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Agree on the key. If something happens and I'm stuck out in the woods, I want to know I can at least crawl in the scout for shelter, regardless of any potential issues. Also, I give keys to my kids at camp to run back to the truck for things, but I don't give them my phone.

Say hello to the new Scout® Terra™ Truck and Scout® Traveler™ SUV

Bravo, Bravo, Bravo to the Scout Motors team. Absolutely nailed something very appealing to many of us longtime fans, and I think the "neutral" buyer who doesn't know anything about the history. You really struck a balance here! Love the range expectations, the interior (including that great...

New Scout To Be Revealed On October 24, 2024

It's not announced, but there was an article that speculated that the range extender version might have a smaller battery (like 150 mile range) and therefore might be cheaper or the same as the battery only since they'd add the cost of the generator, but reduce the cost of the battery. a hybrid...

New Scout Trucks To Be Revealed October 24, 2024

I went Traveler with Range extender, but may switch to battery only later. if the V2G and V2L works with the range extender, then it has even more utility to me in a pinch.

    SUV Reveal questions-pregame

A request... since one of the things these older trucks excelled at was the great visibility from inside to outside, I would love some good pics of what it looks like if you are in the driver's seat looking out the front and sides as well as what it looks like if you're a backseat passenger...

New Scout Trucks To Be Revealed October 24, 2024

I agree, I would like to be able to use it for at least a utility trailer to haul random items around or potentially a pop up tent trailer. I'd personally be OK with a 5K tow limit, but that's just me.
