  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Tarrifs on Canada. Would you still buy?

For sure, though in fairness, plain old inflation in cars has been running hot since the 2012 recovery. the average US new car sold was 30K in 2012. It was 48K last year. So over 50% increase in 12 years. If we see even 4% continued inflation, we'll see that a 60K car today is 65K in 2...

South Carolina Scouts! Your voice is heard: Direct sales bill gets a hearing on Wednesday!

Interesting, I'm worried if they keep the "zero emission" in the restriction vs just "never been sold through dealers here" clause. It seems that might rule out the Harvester as an available direct purchase.

Tarrifs on Canada. Would you still buy?

I did some quick research, and it looks like the wholesale price of steel is around $532/metric ton, FOB Pittsburg. So if there is 4,400 lbs of steel per scout, it's $1,064 in steel cost. So if it goes up 25%, then it would abotu $1,300 per vehicle, or $250 more per vehicle. Note that if...

    The future of electric vehicles

I don't see any "anti" electric vehicle. Just talk of removing some of the mandates and incentives. I want a Scout because I want it, not because ~10% of the price might be offset by a government subsidy. While every dollar helps, I'm excited for what they're building, regardless of any...

    Keep the ol' Scout Too?

Yeah, I get that. These will be the first new car ever for me (I'm 50) (the new scout) and most expensive car for me (the old scout). I always drive 20+ year old cheap stuff, but I guess I'm finally getting a couple of nice ones.

    Keep the ol' Scout Too?

I'm going the other way. The new scout, which I'll love, will do everything (offroad trips, super efficient daily driver, family road trips), my frame off restored Scout 2 will not see trails where it might get scratched after what I've put into body and paint! It will be in the garage, with...

Maybe Scout Could Partner with Tribal Nations for Direct to Consumer Delivery on Tribal Lands

It would be interesting to see how many states that currently forbid direct to consumer sales would then be available. FoI found one article with a list, that is suspect, since it doesn't include SC, but let's use this list: Maine Vermont Alabama - Reservation Arkansas Montana - Reservation...

What are you driving until release?

2015 MB GL450 - might not make it 3 years (while amazing cars, they are very fiddly with a lot of gizmos/etc that go. Also, I had one cam replaced due to huge chips out of it, so we're hoping the thing stays good now that we've done a bunch of work to the engine a couple of years ago). 2003...

    Range and Competitiveness

but in fairness. you have two choices with Scout 1. Buy the BEV - 350 mile range. should cover your 200 mile round trip without charging, even in cold weather, but you'd want a good charger at home (probably one of the 48A ones). You'll need to charge each day. If you had charging at work...

    Comparing preorders to Bronco sales

I've only reserved one (on the first day), but in talking to my wife, there is a chance she'd need one too as the family hauler (our 2015 SUV will be 12/13 years old by then), so I may just go reserve a second one now with a HARD intention of buying the first and 50/50 chance of taking the...

How will the scouts handle the extreme cold?

You get the call Tap the app on your phone that you're leaving Pull on your clothes and shoes run down to the garage and slap the garage door opener as you go by yank the plug out of the fender, hop in and put it in reverse I bet it takes you 3 minutes to make it from your bed to the car...

South Carolina Bill Introduced - Email to Reservation Holders

Same here. It'd be tempting to take deliver and drive it back to WA state, and I think I would for a big press event if I was one of the first off the line, but otherwise, I'd ask for it to be delivered somewhat nearby me.

    Questions about the Harvester

Bartman, I mean this sincerely... the ability to admit one still has something to learn, and to approach life with some humility is one of the greatest strengths of a strong person.

Poll- What have you Reserved... Let's get a small idea of the take rates.

Yes, I owned an EREV with a really tiny range (and early i3). It's 77 mile stated range did leave us short a few days, though most days was fine (about 15 miles each way to work, so a typical day would be driving 30 miles, say 35 if you had a few stops to make). If we were on a Saturday...

    Questions about the Harvester

I actually think the harvester option may REDUCE the cost as SM then puts 200 miles less battery in it. Cost estimates are $110-160 per kWh so if you assume that 100kWh less battery, then the reduced battery should save the company $11k to $16k. I would guess the Harvester with all the stuff...

Entry Model Specs, Premium Model Price?

This is what literally everyone has done, and I find it the most likely scenario. A higher end (but still good relative value for the content) "launch edition" is what ships first and if someone wants a lower trim, they keep their place in line, but wait until they start making that...

Poll- What have you Reserved... Let's get a small idea of the take rates.

I disagree with your premise. The statistics say for the VAST majority of americans, a 150 mile battery would let them run on battery power for almost all of their driving. Most people don't go more than 150 miles in a day except maybe every month or two. I do not expect the EREV to run all...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

I'm with you, I love big range vehicles. My 71 Travelall only get 8.5MPG, but it has 4 gas tanks totalling over 70 gallons for about a 600 mile range. But being realistic, if I can go 500 miles before having to refuel, I'm personally happy.
