  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    OS Handle

That's the same location as my Toyota, except that I have one on the driver's side as well. They're really helpful for pulling yourself up into a lifted vehicle, and very handy for the passenger to stabilize themselves off road, but they're too far away to be useful on a twisty mountain road...

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

Nice catch on what appear to be three cylinders in the video, but they appear to be on their side. For proper crank lubrication on an inline-3, that would be an all-new engine design. I think what we're seeing is one side of a flat-6 engine. In that case, they should be able to run...

    Testing

I'll test for durability as I drive my vehicles harder than 99% of the population! :ROFLMAO: My driving style is a happy mix of 0-60, skidpad testing and "hold my beer".

    What did you reserve?

Orange Traveler/Harvester with a white roof (solid, no opening), tan/brown plaid interior. Tow package and round-headlight grill package, but base otherwise.

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

Exactly my point, enough power to sustain the vehicle itself, but it definitely wouldn't be enough to tow for extended periods. A setting for towing that starts the generator up immediately while slowly using up the battery would be helpful for towing instead of relying on pure battery reserves...

    Audible pedestrian warning noise

I don't want a spaceship or ICE sound coming from mine, but I'd be okay with something more mechanical sounding like straight-cut gears. Maybe an industrial/machine sound. Whatever it is, I wouldn't mind it changing frequency/revs a bit with speed. Pedestrians pay more attention when they hear...

    Audio system

Whatever the brand, it won't be loud enough or have enough bass for me, so please have full-range audio coming from the "head unit" to whatever amp/processing package is used. That at least allows me to access wiring and add additional amps as desired. Hopefully the 12v system will be amenable...

    Gas Powered Range Extender

The Harvester option needs to be pretty short to fit in that location without eating into cargo space, so a flat four or flat six would be great, and something VW has done well over the years. Routing air up from underneath shouldn't be too hard for intake and cooling, but that could get messy...

What would you like to see in a Heritage Edition?

Retro front masks/grills. The sheet metal looks to be made for this, so I'm really hoping they offer interchangeable grills/lights to really personalize the look of your Scout.

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

Realistically, the Harvester option can't be used to tow indefinitely on gas. The generator will simply be too small and not provide enough power to tow a large load. I'm hoping they size it so that a mostly empty vehicle can sustain on its own though. Think of it this way- if the Harvester...

    Scout Color Poll #1

Kudos to Scout for using the top three colors in this poll during the reveal. It's nice to know you're listening to the community!

Please, No Free Fast Charging Credits

Instead of "free" merch, "free" charging credits, or "free/discounted" chargers, Scout should just charge less for the vehicles and let us decide how to spend our money.

Say hello to the new Scout® Terra™ Truck and Scout® Traveler™ SUV

The sheet metal is perfect and the color on the Traveler was my ideal color! The front/rear masks weren't to my liking, but I suspect you'll have optional, interchangeable masks, at least for the front. Actually, I'm fine with the masks, just not the lighting portions. On the rear, I'd really...

Hummer EV Breaks - This CANNOT Happen to the Scout

Therein lies the rub. Running everything through one computer leaves it vulnerable, while running things through multiple computers leaves things with bus-based communication issues on occasion. Proper logic circuits and redundancies for critical systems will be too expensive for general...

    Dealerships Are Dying

Tesla managed some exceptions in a number of states before legislatures caught on. My Rivian R1S delivery is on indefinite hold because they can't deliver or have service centers in NC. Some earlier deliveries were made in NC, but have since stopped at last check. Friggin' politicians...

    Dealerships Are Dying

Back to the dealership idea- I bought one of the first MINI Coopers when they came back to the US, and MINI really did it right. They started off in a corner of one of the local BMW dealerships and within 2 years had built their own. During that time, the community involvement was...

Hummer EV Breaks - This CANNOT Happen to the Scout

I was promised reliability in EVs compared to ICE. The problem with most EVs seems to be the software, like most every computer, phone, app, etc. If you're going all in on software, core components of the EV drive system NEED to have failsafe modes/systems like an airplane. Give them limp...

    Manual Transmission

Yeah, I've driven several EVs, and like automatics before them, I find them boring and appliance-like. Maybe I just haven't driven one with any character yet. Assuredly quick, but boring. I completely agree with you in opposition to anything that just simulates a manual transmission. In the...
