  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    What engine would that be

Speculation Alert - possible Harvester Engine Choices

This is my guess as well. The 1.5 just doesn’t seem like it will have the power if they take the turbo off.

Agreed I’m a Chevy guy but the Silverado ev was a huge miss for me

Harvester generator gas and not diesel

I agree diesel has alot of benefits. But it costs more manufacture and doesn’t do well with not being used regularly. Plus with the whole diesel gate thing it’s just not worth the headache. I love diesel’s but a diesel generator just wouldn’t be worth it. Scout can use the connection with the vw...

Make Harvester easily serviceable for the diy (oil changes, air filter, and spark plug replacements)

The harvester has the potential to far out last the battery pack with only regular maintenance. If used only on long drives and when towing.

Harvester generator gas and not diesel

It’s possible but keep in mind this won’t be running very often. Diesels don’t like to sit unused. They like to be ran almost daily or else you start having a lot of little problems.

Make Harvester easily serviceable for the diy (oil changes, air filter, and spark plug replacements)

Yeah the harvester should be fairly low use minus long road trips and towing. I can’t wait to find out more about it.

Yeah unibody is great for cheap low cost vehicle’s (even though none exist anymore). But you are right they rust fast in the event of an accident it can cost much more to repair. Body on frame is a great platform from a longevity and repairability standpoint.

Yeah the lengths manufacturers go to save a nickel is crazy. Personally a unibody is fine for most smaller vehicles but once you get to a full size i think body on frame is better.

Make Harvester easily serviceable for the diy (oil changes, air filter, and spark plug replacements)

I read somewhere that they build engines at the Chattanooga,TN plant and at Huntsville’s,AL. This could be wrong it came from the internet.

I think they was jumping on the unibody ev truck bandwagon. I’m kind of seeing some cyber truck mixed as well.

It may just be me but I’m not really a fan of the styling on most of the ev trucks and suvs. I think scout has done the best with their designs

Make Harvester easily serviceable for the diy (oil changes, air filter, and spark plug replacements)

I’ve been looking at the vw group 4 cylinders produced in the USA. The 1.5 and 2.0 are both built fairly close to the scout plant. So shouldn’t be a problem with imports and both have enough power run a fairly good size generator. Thinking more about it to me it doesn’t make sense to take the...

Harvester generator gas and not diesel

Diesel would be a great option and vw builds some great diesel engines. But with diesel gate and all of the emissions that would be required would much more complicated than gas. I can’t think of a single diesel engine now that gets by without all the emissions equipment. Even all of newer...

Make Harvester easily serviceable for the diy (oil changes, air filter, and spark plug replacements)

I believe they said in an interview that it wouldn’t be turbo charged but I may be wrong. I think it will probably be the 2.0 even if power half it would still be around 120hp. Which could still run around a 75kw generator.

Wouldn’t mind a turbo charged engine not a huge fan of direct injection but I guess we’ll have to take what we can get

    Do an event in Miami

Maybe once they get closer to production. They will take them through all 50 states and spend a week in each state going to different cities to let people get out and see them.

Yes whoever is in charge of the drainage should be maintaining it better likely the general contractor or subcontractor. But often times during days of hard rain this can’t be helped. The creek near my house will stay muddy for days after rain and there is no construction or earth moving...
