  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    What If?

But like the first question asked of freshmen engineering studies, what is the air temp differential in a closed room with the fridge door open.......a wind turbine on a vehicle cannot create enough electricity all on its own to propel a vehicle whose motion creates the wind. Otherwise we could...

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

Did not want to start a new thread although we could but VWs announcement this week of delaying US battery production, will that have any effect on first of all pricing of Scout since apparently all batteries would have to first come from Germany? Eventually Canada but if Scout production waits...

    Dimensions for Scout 80

I can see the problem. Rebuilt used fenders are for sale for $2100 each And of course being American when tooling in a stamping facility changes the previous bucks are melted down. Thus no aftermarket stampings freshly made. Best source would be to find museum quality vehicle to scan

Guess who drives an IH Scout II? Tim Walz

Yep it's nothing leaning one way or another except that Tim (and we all with nostalgic ICE vehicles) will continue to need a certain availability of liquid fuels. The world (California excluded) in my limited perspective is a long way from absolute 100% EV with a ban on driving or even owning ICE.

    Audio system

For real retro Scout shoukd come with an 8 track player or at least a cassette player. Way before your time if you refer to albums as those shiny little silver coasters. Why I had some of the first computers with the optional coffee cup holder. Even had the extra large 5.25 inch size

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

Our house rate jumps from 9.74 cents to 10.6 on 9/1. Certainly a charging station contracts for much lower, maybe 6 cents. And reselling at over 35 cents is far more lucrative scam, I mean scheme, than the approximately 7-10% profit (before expenses) on a gallon of gas. If all else where...

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

A hybrid has built in reserve if you don't use up both battery AND fuel. So if one runs out you are not stranded. And out in no man's land west of Steamboat Springs where the cattle do roam free and asking a local if you can find one to ask to plug into their house for a quick topoff will be...

Top Five Accessories For The New Scout

You were treated with disrespect and sexism straight out of last century. A buyer can indeed order and have built exactly what they want, subject to certain restraints from design and engineering (many of which make no sense). In fact in the last century Ford had a plan to drastically reduce...

    Frunk Focus

If you stick spare on the tailgate you prohibit having a fold down tailgate. A folddown grill and rear passenger partition like the original Bollinger would allow carrying 2x4s of some length

Direct competitor: 2025 Jeep Wagoneer S

Wide brush paints good dealers same as bad. My son's Ram 2500 long cab went through a transmission swap but other than some supply chain delays had a very good dealer experience. And I think you can count the number of current Stelantis dealers that also sold the Renault Alliance on both hands...

Silly ideas sometimes inspire good ones, let's hear yours

If I recall (fuzzy after an intervening 60+ years) the only difference between a 80/800 SUV or pickup was the top ( and lack of factory delivered rear seat). It is too late in design process since the big reveal to be on schedule is less than 60 days away (late summer 2024) but with only a...

    VW is investing in Rivian

I have seen tons of demos in my time from paint protestants that resist flaming (low temp) liquids, Dodge Vipers running laps with no oil after special additive, I could go on...

    Olympic Scout

They have 10 years before the next Utah winter olympics in 2034 but LA in 4 for summer. Especially with California leading push to all electric, Scout would be perfect fit to be official SUV of the next summer Olympics

    Prices dropping on EVs

Remember MG ? Now owned by China but current (EV pun) prototype of their all electric roadster would have me in line if we could get them here without 100% tariffs. And I fully agree with you that the key to success is building something that is not just a same old donut with different icing...

    Chevy Silverado

Even a vanilla $50,000 EV will do 0-60 in under 5 sec. Most trims of the Mach-e do so and one version will match the high performance Rivian R1 at 3.5 seconds At the cheap end a Chevy Bolt can run it in 6.5 about the same as a 1968 Shelby Mustang But seriously just how fast do we need to get...
