  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

I vote for Marshall as well. That would be cool. If they're looking to a lesser-known quality brand though I think a partnership with Grado would be amazing!

Like @J Alynn said, I wouldn't expect a 2-door at launch but I expect such a vehicle is probably on the roadmap, it'll just take a few years to get there. The 2-door 4x4 segment isn't very big so it wouldn't be a priority at launch but perhaps down the road when Scout is looking to expand it's...

Guess who drives an IH Scout II? Tim Walz

No one is proposing banning ownership or driving ICE vehicles. Not even California. So-called "EV mandates" have nothing to do with that, they are supply side incentives to ensure automakers provide enough EVs to market, not to force people to buy EVs. Besides, lots of people still ride horses...

Amazing!! Looks great and I wish you luck. Definitely share pics of your progress and let us know when you hit the road with it!!

    RECONSIDER EV

Well you're wrong about how electricity is produced so that's not a great start. You absolutely CAN have electricity without fossil fuels creating it and in fact where I live we do! Our grid is mostly nuclear, hydro, wind and solar so your first claim is dead wrong. I'm curious, can you refine...

NOW CLOSED. Limited-Time Scout Community Merchandise

Haha thanks for the offer but that seems a bit of a pricey way to go just to get a tee shirt! lol Hopefully Scout will correct this oversight quickly...unless they feel like Canada isn't an important market to them?

NOW CLOSED. Limited-Time Scout Community Merchandise

I wish I could order stuff but there's no option to ship to Canada. :(

Why can't Canadians order Scout Merch? There's no country option for Canada. sigh.

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

Yes, for daily driving I generally do 20 ish % to 80 ish %. On road trips though I'll typically charge to 100% at home then run it down to 10 ish % on the road and fast charge back up to 80% until I get to my destination. A 10% to 80% charge usually runs me between $20-$30 CAD depending on the...

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

I’m it sure that’s true, you’re making a lot of assumptions. Fast charge stations cost tens of thousands of dollars in capital just to build, then there’s rent for the site, plus tens of thousands for the high capacity grid connection at the site plus all the approvals. Then there’s the...

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

Yes, that’s in Canadian. We also have ultra-low overnight electricity rates which are two and a half cents per kWh so very cheap overnight energy thanks to so many renewables on the grid. Our grid is roughly half nuclear with the rest being some sort of renewable and about 10% being gas at peak...

    Lessons Learned on Range Anxiety

I just did a seven hour road trip in my EV yesterday. Only needed one charging stop at a fast charger and it cost $20. Normally charging at home costs me under $2 for a ‘full tank’. I typically charge at home about once a week. Needless to say we have never noticed the EV on our hydro bill.

The Key EV Tech I'm looking for in Scout Vehicles

I live north of 45 deg latitude, full EV is perfectly fine. Been driving all electric since 2017 and have found that EVs are better than fossil vehicles in the winter. I'll take an EV over gas or hybrid any day of the week and any season. Modern EVs are awesome and I have no doubt the Scout will...

    VW is investing in Rivian

Exactly. Demos can be faked. Heck, even Apple faked it in the first iPhone demo with the phone barely working on stage and the apps on screen were just image placeholders. The difference is Apple wasn’t fighting the laws of physics and was well funded. Quantumscape made similar battery claims a...

    VW is investing in Rivian

Startups making those sorts of claims are a dime a dozen and pop up every week. Wake me up when someone brings a battery like to into mass production. It's one thing getting something to work in a lab, it's quite another getting it to do the thing reliably and at scale. Given that lithium-ion...

EV Sales Aren't Actually in Decline in North America

The fact that your vehicle depreciated so much has more to do with that specific vehicle than the fact it's a ZEV. My ZEV has depreciated very modestly since I bought it two years ago but since I have no plans to sell I don't really care what the resale value is. Are you not able to charge at home?

    VW is investing in Rivian

I wouldn't hold your breath. Solid state batteries have a lot of hype around them but they still don't work below freezing and depending on the electrolyte can be prone to cracking making their longevity an issue. Also the super-fast charge time claims people make are hilarious. Sure you can...

    Chevy Silverado

Teslas have one pedal driving on by default which I would argue is the real issue. The car sickness has nothing to do with the regen and everything to do with the abilities of the driver. Regen can be strong, yes, but it can also feel indistinguishable from friction brakes. Your anecdotal...

Oh I understand! No worries. I'm just saying they'll probably need to call it something else now.

    Scout Color Poll #1

Probably shouldn't call it "Apache Gold" these days but I agree. I hope Scout is bold and doesn't offer black, grey, or white and only offers colours! Stand apart from every other automaker and offer only colour options. I'm hoping for an orange or yellow myself, ideally in a two-tone scheme of...
