  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Ideas for Scout Engineers

Exactly. FWIW, I quite liked the idea of having DC inputs on the vehicles, so those with solar panels could set them up and directly connect them to the scout. That sort of mitigates the "its hard to integrate solar panels into roofs" problem, and still allows people to use a couple 100w panels...

Range extender - please adjust spec to 250 miles of EV Range

Agreed. I think we're going to see a 3-4 cylinder engine, that functions only to generate electricity. Although personally I'd say (unless something changes), that I think the chance of the engine driving the wheels is low, like "almost zero" low, as they keep talking about how this is an...

December 2024 Scout Production Center Construction Update

Was curious, so went and got two photos to compare. Paint shop is pretty much fully enclosed, body shop has been significantly expanded (doubled??), as has assembly, and now there is almost a utility building.

    Plywood

100%. Funny enough, its possible that the Traveler might also have the same/longer "bed" than the Terra when the second row seats are folded down, and the tailgate is dropped. This is assuming that the back of the Traveler is probably at least 6ft long (people talking about camping in the back...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Strange that you're getting guesses about this all over the place. Its been repeatedly said, by Scout, publicly. 150 miles EV only range. Another 350 miles via range extender.

Range extender - please adjust spec to 250 miles of EV Range

I'm not counting it out quite yet. 25kw of power isn't all that much. Its 33HP (net, so not including charging losses). 25kw of power from the generator would be in line with the BMW I3 REX, and way less than the Chevy Volt (which I believe was ~50kw). Both of which are significantly smaller...

    Plywood

5.5ft long bed on the Traveler? Or do you mean Terra? I'm hopeful that the Traveler is wide enough to fit sheet goods in the back between the wheelwells? Are you confirming that, or was that just a "ah, yep, meant the Terra" moment? Because if you're confirming that, thats great news, and...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Not sure if this is anywhere else here yet. But posting it just in case. I thought it was really interesting seeing the scale of the earth moving going on to build the factory site. They had only finished something like ~12% of the site grading before they started construction of the first...

Range extender - please adjust spec to 250 miles of EV Range

I mean, I think we'd all like more range. But like J is saying, unfortunately we can't have our cake, and eat it too in this context. Or rather, given current battery size/density realities, I don't think Scout will have any spare space laying around for extra battery? Personally, the 150 mile...

    SCOUT TRAVELER FAQ

This is great news. One of the bigger hopes I had for the Traveler. Personally I'm not too stressed about where it goes, or how it is implemented, as long as we can get to it with the doors closed. Heck, even a Hyundai style V2L connector/adapter could work (like an NACS to NEMA 14-50 or NEMA...

    Driving Sounds

Hate to break it to everyone, but the noise is a legal requirement (at least the exterior portion). I'd be very surprised if it is possible to turn it off. Its been a law for a few years now. But basically any vehicle that can move under EV power (BEV, PHEV, EREV, Even normal hybrids), is...

    Scout Motors at CES 2025

The real question is if we'll get a 240v outlet on the exterior of the Traveler. Because like you, I love the idea of using it this way. I live somewhere where we generally get 1-3 longer-ish power outages a year at a minimum (longer-ish meaning 12-48hrs). I'd absolutely love to open the garage...

What are you driving until release?

Surprisingly, mines been relatively reliable all these years (I've had it for 17 years now). Given, it's not been maintenance free, but it is now also 28 model years old. Its never left me stranded, and it's been pretty easy to fix most of the time. Water pump and radiator twice, timing chain...

Make Sure Traveler is drivable with tailgate/liftgate open.

Absolutely valid concern. And one I totally didn't think about when I was posting this, as I've never had a swing out tire carrier like that. So thanks for bringing it up. I was mostly thinking "please don't somehow prevent us from driving if we have the rear liftgate/tailgate open". But yeah...

Make Sure Traveler is drivable with tailgate/liftgate open.

Random thought occurred to me while talking with a friend. And this is more of a "lets make sure this works this way" sort of post. I'm a long time SUV owner. And importantly, an SUV owner who hasn't owned a truck. Which means that I've used my SUV as a psuedo-truck many times. My 1997 Jeep...

Scout shows off the UX at CES!

I actually 10000% agree here. As mentioned elsewhere, I am in the PNW, and ride mountain bikes year round here. In the winter I often end a ride super sweaty (or rainy, or both), in ~35-45f weather. Being able to ventilate, but stay warm, and dry off my back/backside, would be great. While...

Traveler Ride Quality and NVH Expectations

My jeeps current ride quality could best be described as being similar to one of these. So I'm pretty sure everything will be an upgrade :D.

Scout shows off the UX at CES!

So many things revealed, so hard to keep track of what we did/didn't already know :D. Thanks for clarifying.

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

The new CES videos showcase both Adaptive Cruise Control, and "L2+, hands off" driving modes. Also mentioned something about lane centering. No idea if all of that is standard, or optional. That said, nothing prevents you from not using them even if they are included. As you said, I think that...

Scout shows off the UX at CES!

I watched this one last night, and was debating if I should update my post with screenshots just like this. Thank you for doing that! They also showcased a few other things (like I saw the Carplay menu item pop up), and on the outdoors mode I saw something called "leveling", which I would...
