  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Driving Sounds

This is correct. It has been mentioned a few times. The exterior sound is a legal requirement.

    Removable Traveler spare tire mount

Afaik, both of these are already "things" that we know. The Spare tire carrier on the traveler is supposed to be removeable/optional, and the upper glass of the liftgate is shown to swing up already.

    Front storage?

The frunk is possibly one of the things I"m most excited about about the Scouts. Now what I'd love is for there to be some sort of ventilation in there, so when I pack it full of sweaty mountain biking gear, it doesn't turn into a "funk frunk".

Actual dimensions based on what we configure

We have the length already. The dimensions on their site show the length of traveler without spare tire carrier. It hasn't been updated to show the roof rack height though.

    Ideas for Scout Engineers

This one is a known thing. They are supporting it. They've mentioned it here on the forums, I believe its on their FAQ on their website, and the Apple Carplay icon was in their prototype dashboard in all the CES 2025 videos. So pretty sure this one is happening at least.

    Range and Competitiveness

The problem is we don't know exactly how the EREV functionality of the range extender is intended to work in this instance. Largely because there really haven't been many EREV's yet. But the way proposed to work above, is exactly the same Ram Ramcharger is intended to work, which will be coming...

    AI and Scout? Deeper Insight

I worked internet security once as an intern (Network Operations Center, Intrusion Detection stuff). Despite not going into that field, and not being "current" on it, I'm jaded as all get out, and privacy is a big deal to me. I'm all about reducing threat profiles.

    3 Years

Adding some data to things, because thats my jam. Average EV range (in the USA at least): https://insideevs.com/news/746799/average-ev-range/ Personally, I'm not thinking the Average EV for sale in the US will be 350-400 miles of range by 2027-2028. We might get something of a step change with...

Dedicated space for trash and tissues and overall cleanliness?

As a side note, those "crappy plastic bags", aren't as ubiquitous as they used to be. We get the heavy duty ones that you have to pay for, and that are supposed to be reuseable, not the thin flimsy ones that existed for the last forever.

December 2024 Scout Production Center Construction Update

That would be pretty amazing rampup if that happened. But 50k seems like quite a lot for a first year run of a new model from a new brand. I wouldn't be surprised if it was lower. The Cybertruck just sold 38k in its first full year. They could have produced more (and maybe did :P), as they were...

Poll- What have you Reserved... Let's get a small idea of the take rates.

So, the info is all buried around here. And of course its all guesswork (but we try to be educated about it :D). But basically, if we assume that the Scouts will get ~2miles per KWh of battery in terms of efficiency (between the Rivian R1, and Hummer in efficiency, which I think makes sense...

Poll- What have you Reserved... Let's get a small idea of the take rates.

Currently I think the prevailing theory is that the harvester might actually be the cheaper option. The difference in battery size is pretty significant (in the vicinity of ~100kwh, or roughly the size of the entire Kia EV9 battery pack), and with batteries being one of the biggest cost...

    Questions about the Harvester

I expect ranges to go up over time too. That said, I'm not expecting the average to jump by that much. There was an article about this just today actually. You can see the average today is 283 miles for all EV's in the US. And... when I look at that trend line, I"m not thinking that in the...

    Ideas for Scout Engineers

I think its less to "totally recharge while they're camping for a week", and more "keep up with the load of using the battery in the Scout to do camp things, and not end up with less range because you inflated too many toys and cooked too many steaks on the George Foreman grill" sort of thing...

Terra Full Size Spare (35") Mount

Great question. I have no idea if legally its cool to do that anymore. But it sure would solve some tire placement issues for the Terra :).

Range extender - please adjust spec to 250 miles of EV Range

Oh, this brings up another point I forgot about before. So, the normal mode for charging an EV, is, as you say, charging it to 80%. But, charging an PHEV, is usually done to 100%. And because they know that, they build bigger buffers in/etc (ie, "100%" is closer to "80%"), so that battery...

    Questions about the Harvester

Both are true here. And, in densely populated areas, you sometimes have the opposite thing that happens, as the outliers get more "outlier-ly", as the cost of living usually goes way up. So if you are looking to live somewhere affordable, but still work in the city... you often end up driving...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

Not disputing its what you are hearing. More surprised that the EV range for the harvester is not a known thing, as its been said publicly a number of time. I've never really camped in a vehicle thats not a minivan/suburban, but based on the size of the Traveler, I feel like its definitely a...

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

This is currently unknown, and likely the most speculated/desired information that we do not know about the scouts right now. Seems like half of the people are thinking it will be "gas and go" like you're wanting (I'm also in that camp), while the other half is expecting a smaller generator...

    Lower Center Storage area

Got any photos or screenshots of what you're talking about? Do you mean on the bench seat, or the console version? I agree with this, but also am sort of conflicted on it. I obviously don't want junk falling onto the pedals while I'm driving. But, also don't want nets/stuff tangling stuff up...
