  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

“Bike rack on trailer hitch” mode to disable rear parking sensors

I think I've got permanently disabled automatic braking :O. (really though, my 2022 Hyundai Tucson doesn't have it either... or maybe I disabled it on day one? Either way, I haven't experienced it yet, but as I ride with my bike on my oneup rack like the above at least 1-3 times a week...

    Scout Brand Ambassdor Program

Reconnaissance program? Then you could tell your friends that you are reconnoitering. Which is always a good thing to do. Plus it might bring the words “reconnaissance” and “reconnoiter” back into the public lexicon :D.

    SAFETY RATING - COLLISSION PHISYCAL

Front and rear lockers, as well as sway bar disconnect are confirmed. Rear lockers is standard, front is in off-road package. Unclear how the sway bar disconnects are offered (standard, or in a package).

    Traveler without the Spare

I do think that it is important to have different spare tire locations, particularly for the Traveler. So for any scout employees reading this, please take that into account. Here are the options I'd love, personally. External spare tire carrier (confirmed, optional) Pros: Great for full...

    Traveler without the Spare

Yep, the spare tire carrier is supposed to be an option (and be removable). That’s a big deal to me because my garage won’t fit the traveler in it with the spare tire carrier on (hot water heater/furnace takes up space). I might put on the spare tire carrier for longer trips though. The frunk...

Scout Warns VW Dealers Fighting Direct Sales That It’s Not Playing Around

Thank you so much for clarifying! I can't tell you how much it helps to have you, Jamie, and others from Scout weighing in with "official statements of truth" in this. We understand you can't give all the information we want yet, but thank you for helping clear things up where/when you can. Its...

South Carolina Bill Introduced - Email to Reservation Holders

This is a great move, I wish you luck (I'm not a SC Scout, although I lived in NC for a few years as a child). And I hope this gets the ball rolling for more states to drop their dealership requirements. Everyone. Hates. Dealerships. I'm just over 2900 miles away from Blythewood SC. Despite...

Scout Warns VW Dealers Fighting Direct Sales That It’s Not Playing Around

Afaik they don't plan on doing anything at a VW dealership. They're talking about releasing their own service centers/etc afaik? Perhaps I misunderstood that though?

Poll- What have you Reserved... Let's get a small idea of the take rates.

This closely aligns with my ownership experience of the PHEV I have so far. Despite its limited EV only range of 33 miles (13.8KWh useable), we get a lot of EV only miles out of it. For the last 7600 miles (no big road trips in this data set), we've averaged ~246mpg. This means that in those...

    Questions about the Harvester

I agree, the battery range extender for the cybertruck, seems sub-optimal. Its hundreds of pounds, thousands of dollars, eats into storage space, and isn't something you can easily add/remove from the vehicle. I think the EREV is a better solution for most people, unless all of your trips...

Scout Warns VW Dealers Fighting Direct Sales That It’s Not Playing Around

All I can think of when I see this, is this. And I will not apologize for that :D. So there you go dealers.

Poll- What have you Reserved... Let's get a small idea of the take rates.

Coming at things from a PHEV perspective (my PHEV has a 33 mile range), we plug in after every trip. So the 150 mile range of the harvester feels decadent to an extent. But, I guess most pure BEV owners don't charge up every time they return home, and instead charge once every week or so? That...

“Bike rack on trailer hitch” mode to disable rear parking sensors

I might have too peasant level of a vehicle for this to have been a problem for me so far. I have cross traffic sensors, but no backup sensors afaik. About 45min after I start driving with my bike on the rack, I get a "cross traffic sensors may be blocked" warning, but thats just a beep and...

    Steering wheel stalks

Maybe its part of the HVAC, as a little hand warmer :D.

    Optional 2nd Row Captain Chairs

I'll be honest here. I don't understand your post. Can you explain it a bit more? The Scouts are either 5, or 6 passenger vehicles. You want to make the rear of the vehicle seat 4 people, via a bench seat? Isn't the rear already a bench seat? And you say you never need to carry more than other...

    Questions about the Harvester

Scout has repeatedly said that the harvester will have a 150 mile EV only range. I think if they had a larger battery like you’re describing, they would be advertising the longer 250 mile range on EV alone (as that would be the max it could go without turning on the harvester). Also, "Range...

    12v battery access/cabin access

Which Rivian does this? Because afaik, they definitely do have 12v batteries. Their website has a whole page about getting notifications about them, and there are a bunch of posts all over the internet about them as well...

    Questions about the Harvester

FWIW, I am thinking of the harvester for long multi-stop road trips. The appeal of "gas and go" in this context for me is definitely for faster/more convenient road trips. It does give more confidence (ie, I have more confidence that I'll be able to find gas, than a working charger in...
