  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

What are you driving until release?

I have been thinking the exactly same thing. The smart money for a vehicle right now, seems to be lightly used EV's (especially if you're looking for a "regional use" vehicle). I know the Subaru Solterra is made fun of for its slow charging speed and short range (and rightly so). But, you can...

    Front 2" Hitch

To be honest, I'd be ok with a front 2in hitch. But I'd be a bit surprised if that was a factory option. Bike racks, and a winch that you could swap from front to back, would be the main reasons that I would be interested in one.

    Analog Scout?

FWIW, I get the sentiment. At least some of it. To be honest, any new vehicle like this is just not going to happen, at least not as a product by any mainstream auto manufacturer. The emissions, and performance benefits are just too huge to ignore. Having dealt with carbs on small engines...

    Optional Third Row

100% agree. It's also 4in smaller than the Toyota Highlander, which does have a 3rd row. But that third row has 28in of legroom. The Nissan Pathfinder is ~7 in longer than the Traveler, but also has 28in of legroom in that third row. The Tesla Model Y had 26.5in of legroom in the third row...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Oh man, this hits hard. I'd also add "I have the hand size of a 6yr olds and am double jointed" to the list of qualifications.

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

I mean, this is definitely correct. But it really depends on when your frame of reference is. I was curious. Turns out, $20k in 1989 is the same as $50k today. https://www.in2013dollars.com/us/inflation/1989?amount=20000 And $250k in ~1982-1983 is ~$850k today.

    Sound suppression

My father owned a TJ with a soft top, half doors, and mud terrains. That was pretty dang loud. My buddy at the time owned a '74 CJ5, with a V8, glasspacks, and no doors, or top. I remember one time we did a 2hr road trip to go wheeling. That was... much louder :D. My ZJ is pretty loud by...

Rear Window - Flip Up Option

Just thinking out loud here. The moment that I can say that (if I ever get to say that), I'll feel like I've finally contributed :D. "See that <obscure thing I continually posted about> kiddo (of course I'm speaking to my kid in this daydream, for some reason)? I made that happen! Without me...

Range extender - please adjust spec to 250 miles of EV Range

Welcome! The short answer is unfortunately, no, no one knows what the MPG will be. In fact, since they haven't released many details, there really isn't much that we DO know about the range extender, and thus is one of the hotly discussed (I'd say debated, but it's more like "theorized" TBH)...

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

I agree. LFP batteries make more sense when: The batteries are smaller (because they take up more space/weight per KWh of battery storage) The batteries need to be charged to 100% more often You want something cheap (prices on LFP batteries have come down more than any other mainstream...

    Spare tire discussion

This has been posed a few times IIRC. I believe that our man on the ground @J Alynn was there, and said that no way a spare tire would fit in the Frunk? Even with the "cooler area" utilized, and the spare was vertical in the frunk?

    Sound suppression

Jeep owner here (straight 6 ftw). There WILL be outside noises at low speeds, because that is a gov regulation for anything thats capable of moving without a combustion engine running (I think its a pedestrian noise, that shuts off at ~18mph?). So, that will be there. As will a backup noise...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

With the Ramcharger coming out a full year or two ahead of the Scouts, I'm not sure that we'll see Scout Patenting it. Unless of course, they do it in some materially different way (which they might), but afaik, that probably won't be the case? But of course, if they can, and then license it...

    Comparing preorders to Bronco sales

I start to realize that my life is very atypical at times like this. I am not on Twitter (yes, I know its called X now), but it will always be twitter for me. I am not on Facebook I am not on Instagram I am not on Ticktock I don't watch "news" I do not watch cable/broadcast TV I use Adblockers...

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

OOoo Interesting, that actually gives a lot more data than you might think. One of two main things could be happening there if that is true. It could be referencing a different battery composition (IE, LFP vs NMC battery cells, LFP cells are cheaper and are safe to charge to 100% constantly...

Rear Window - Flip Up Option

I have glass just like the OP asked for in my old ZJ. I use it, probably similar to how you use the liftgate on your LR. If I have a long thing that I'm putting into the vehicle (last week it was a 10ft pipe for a weather station), I slid it in through the back glass, up to the passenger...

Manual Release Latch/Cable for Traveler Split Tailgate

I'd even go so far as to say, I would prefer it to be a manually operated liftgate all the time myself. But if you're going to do it with electronics, please don't leave us SOL when we're out in the middle of nowhere. In December my family and I went on a short road trip in my 1997 ZJ. The...
