  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

    Scott Keogh's 2024 Holiday Message

Well, I have a new Desktop Background now :). I think the moral of the story is that we'll keep gladly accepting any free handouts that you have Jamie :D.

    Questions about the Harvester

Fwiw, I wasn’t trying to step on any toes here. Just thought I saw a misunderstanding, and tried to clear it up, that’s all. No personal slight intended. Personally, I’m sure whatever estimates scout has given us so far, are already their best guess at EPA ranges, using whatever...

    Questions about the Harvester

I think the point they're trying to make is that no matter what battery tech, pack size, or whatever we're talking about, it is likely that the best range, will always come from the specs with smaller, more road-oriented wheels and tires. Now, the total range could be more/less than what we've...

    Harvester Directly Powering Motors?

Does that theoretical setting just prevent you from hitting 88mph? Or does it disable the time circuits? The first one seems easier, but the second one seems like a better implementation. Or maybe they're just assuming the battery pack can't produce the 1.21 gigawatts, and that we won't be...

    Harvester Directly Powering Motors?

Biff. Is that you? (Side note, as a young kid, I was definitely confused on what exactly an almanac was due to Back to the Future. First time I saw a farmers almanac I was like "SWEET, we're RICH!". Took me a hot minute to realize what my 6yr old brain had thought it learned from that movie...

Dedicated space for trash and tissues and overall cleanliness?

I was just giving you a hard time :O. I totally agree, and already upvoted :). (for the record, I don't "put" things between cushions... but, somehow they get there anyway :/). On road trips, what we usually end up doing is a dedicated trash bag, that ends up attached to an armrest, or in a...

Dedicated space for trash and tissues and overall cleanliness?

Dedicated space for trash/tissues? My current car has that. It's "all of the cupholders, as well as the crevices between the front seats and console, front seats and door, and the rear seat cushions, and finally, the floor of the backseat". At least according to my kids. Is that not what you...

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

Heh, apparently I'm fine diving off at random into the weeds :D. Same page here, on all of that. Cheers :).

    Accessories Poll For Scouts

You just described like 78% of my T shirt wardrobe :).

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

All great stuff. Small caveat/tweak. For EREV's, I think the ideal battery size is larger than for a normal PHEV. Mostly because you lack the mechanical connection to the wheels means that you need a larger buffer of battery storage to remain useful on the highway, in the mountains/etc. I'm...

    12v Battery: Not an afterthought

Interesting, I’ve never heard that before. My 2022 Hyundai Tucson has a fob, but when the 12v battery is dead, there is a physical key hiding in the fob, and a hidden lock on the door handle (under a cover).

    12v Battery: Not an afterthought

Same page here. I figured this was likely covered in that 80%. But... uh, I'd rather make sure that they know this is something we care about before the vehicle configuration tool goes live :).

    12v Battery: Not an afterthought

Yeah, maybe I should change the title of the thread. We don't know if it will be 12v, 16v, or even 48v. But whatever the low voltage battery is, I don't want it to be something that is an afterthought/impossible to get to (I do NOT want to go to a service center to get a 12v battery replaced...

    12v Battery: Not an afterthought

Random thought (prompted by @Scoutsie ). Sadly, the 12v battery is something of an afterthought for many EV's. Often leading to them being buried somewhere random/hard to access. And it failing can often be a big pain in the butt. You often can't even get into the vehicle, it might not drive...

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

I think that most of the people reserving the Harvester are thinking it works differently than what you're describing there, which is why it has such a large reservation rate right now. I'm projecting here, but as I am a Harvester reservation holder, I'm hoping its close? But I'm currently...

    Over-the-air-updates?

I understand that it is a bit sensationalized. But what I was trying to convey is that "even if they notice it relatively quickly, and halt a bad update, some people are still going to receive it." IE, if you were part of the 3%, it would still be a pain, even though, as you mentioned, it...

    Over-the-air-updates?

Fwiw, bad updates are still a thing. And the ability to revert to LKG in those situations would great. For any updates that are bad, there is usually “someone” out there in the field getting the bad stuff first. Then they get metrics/feedback about the update being bad, halt the rollout, and...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

I’m… not an XM radio person. I got three months of free XM radio when I bought our Tucson, and never even attempted to use it. But, it’s fine with me if they include the feature. Although it’s annoying how high pressure they are with trials. They called me… a lot. Separate topic. Has...
