  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Why Scout Motors Must Assure Customers of High Quality and Well-Built SUV

We're at the stage in our lives where, for a daily driver, we don't have the time or will to deal with breakdowns or "it'll be fixed with an OTA update!" If this car is buggy or unreliable we're out. Since Rivian is now covering the software I'm optimistic we won't have a problem in that arena.

Scout Terra Used as a Tow Vehicle for Lightship Travel Trailer

The self propulsion system look very similar to what Range Energy is doing in the commercial sector.👀

Road Trip in a VW Buzz: Success or Train Wreck

100%. Like you I wouldn't take them porting that amazing system over for granted hence me sticking that qualifier in my original statement. In the very least, one can hope VW Scout learns from Rivian on what great looks like and where they need to be.

Road Trip in a VW Buzz: Success or Train Wreck

NACS + Rivian Software + Harvester for those who want it = nothing to complain about that's within Scout's control...except one thing. Must have robust navigation options showing available EV chargers across a wide span of providers.

    Kia Electric Tasman Pickup

In tech in the SF Bay Area so every time I hear that truck's name I think of Cisco which is based on Tasman Drive.

What 16 Metro's Will Scout Launch?

Texas is a huge car market that loves SUVs/Trucks so Scout needs to have good presence there. College Station is 3h from DFW so that's a no go however I do agree they could split the difference between San Antonio and Austin by dropping a store halfway in maybe San Marcos or something.

What 16 Metro's Will Scout Launch?

Good point. I know they're planning a factory delivery center so I guess you could count that one as well.

What 16 Metro's Will Scout Launch?

My guess: 1. Los Angeles 2. SF Bay Area 3. San Diego 4. Seattle 5. Portland 6. Denver 7. Austin 8. DFW 9. Houston 10. Chicago 11. New York 12. Boston 13. Phoenix 14. Washington DC 15. Miami 16. Atlanta Note Scout said 16 metro areas but didn't say how many stores. I would expect major metro...

Poll- What have you Reserved... Let's get a small idea of the take rates.

Good question I don't remember but that would explain it. Would also suggest a fair number of people have 2 reserved which is interesting.

Poll- What have you Reserved... Let's get a small idea of the take rates.

How come all four precents in the poll add up to 110%?

US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

Like I said it's simply a list of 3 row EV SUVs, it's not meant to be a like for like.

US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

I don't think anyone is expecting to capture the whole pie, but a slice for sure. At least where I live, there are tons of 3 row SUVs that never leave the pavement and don't have trailer hitches installed.

US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

I would argue it's competitive. Mind you Volkswagen isn't looking to capture traditional minivan customers but rather 3 row SUV customers as a fun alternative. For the record I do buy this argument because I feel our 1967 VW Bus is a vintage SUV alternative in some ways. Inside you've got an...

Another one spotted. This is absolutely ruining the launch.

    Accessories Poll For Scouts

Removeable spare tire carrier for Traveler. What's on there looks awesome but would be cumbersome on a daily driver. Would be great to attach it when doing road trips then keep the spare/rack in the garage the rest of the time. If a body mounted rack can't be achieved, then a swing out hitch...

US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

Yes this is the Scout forums, however I want this to serve as a fresh reminder of what we'll be avoiding when these things go on sale direct from Scout and not from a Volkswagen dealer. I also want our friends at Scout to see this headline and know they made the right call. Thanks...

    Love the Nostalgia

If you can swing it, I would recommend a 2 car plan (unless you've done so already). Classic car to satisfy those enthusiast feels and a modern EV to pack on the miles. Best of both worlds.

    leasing

80% of new EVs are leased in this country. It would be silly not to offer leases but then again that's what Rivian did starting off.

    Feature Suggestions for Scout Engineering

I'd rarely use that feature HOWEVER seats that fold completely flat would be amazing for hauling big bulky cargo and that is something I could definitely get behind.
