  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Scout concepts on Jay Leno’s Garage

Quite honestly I was impressed how fast and far that prototype went. If they drive at all, these kinds of prototypes are usually glorified golf carts with just enough juice to move it around an expo center and onto a truck for shipping.

Badge showing what members have reserved

I think it's a good idea but I'll skip. I've already switched it once and I might switch it again depending on where things are at in 3 years.

Scout has more than 50,000 reservations

Tesla deserved a low conversion ratio on Cybertruck because they couldn't keep the wild promises they made nor could they make a car without rampant quality issues. While nobody knows what Scout quality is going to be like, and as a longtime VW/Audi owner I'm not giving them a free pass on that...

Scout concepts on Jay Leno’s Garage

Thanks Jamie, I'll be keeping my eyes peeled. Of course if they're looking for volunteers for feedback and have vehicles in the Bay Area, hit me up. ;)

Nuggets I picked up on.. Harvester is 4 cylinder not 3 15 gallon tank Towing capacity Terra EV: 10K lbs Traveler EV: 7K lbs Harvester: 5K lbs Steel body but aluminum thrown in to lighten it. Probably like my A6 where it has aluminum hood, fenders, and doors on a steel body. Door handles...

Consumer Freedom and Scout Motors in South Carolina

Absolute trash. A fair marketplace is one that lets me buy what I want, how I want, and when I want and South Carolina is not that. Meanwhile here in California I look forward to celebrating my direct-to-consumer purchase of a Scout with some liquor I buy from a grocery store on a Sunday after...

    I’m a stalker, so what

Google Street View did a full drive around the parking lot and building in August of last year. Appears a lot of folks are taking advantage of the cheap VW Group corporate lease program, then you have cars that are leftover from their previous lives at other manufacturers, and finally daily...

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

The concept shows a charge port at the back however I'm not sure how easily it could pop out with a layer of ice over it. Up front I could easily see them including a heated windshield since they're standard on ID.4 AWD.

Scouting the Road Ahead With Scout Motors President and CEO Scott Keogh

Nuggets I picked up on 800V architecture If Harvester engine is made in Mexico (VW's nearest engine factory and I still believe it'll be the EA211), then it could be subject to tariffs. In San Jose, 40% of new car registrations in 2024 were EV. Can confirm. When it comes to VW dealers, there...

Scouting the Road Ahead With Scout Motors President and CEO Scott Keogh

Food for thought, Nio does battery swaps in China in around 3 minutes and you can select different battery sizes that are swapped into the car. ^Note their use case is an alternative to fast charging not upgrades/maintenance/etc. however the bigger point remains that it's easy to achieve what...

Tarrifs on Canada. Would you still buy?

I'm with you on this. If Scout prices start to runaway from what they promised, I won't blame them for that business decision or be upset, I just won't be a customer.

South Carolina Scouts! Your voice is heard: Direct sales bill gets a hearing on Wednesday!

While my example involved a specific brand, the bigger picture of the story is one of mutual benefit for both consumers and dealers. To your last sentence remember we're talking about VW dealers here so they're very afraid lol.

South Carolina Scouts! Your voice is heard: Direct sales bill gets a hearing on Wednesday!

Putting Scout's vision into their paradigm and correctly using their buzzwords like liberty, consumer freedom, de-regulation, and economic prosperity is a brilliant move and one I was hoping would be made. At it's core, voting against this bill is voting against the very principals they profess.

How Are Electric Vehicles Taxed in Your State?

The 2025 California registration fee for our ID.4 was $734. To compare, the registration fee for the [gas] A6 was $241 meanwhile the registration fees for our classic cars were $189 each. I guess the lesson here is if you really want to save money, electrify a classic car. :p

South Carolina Scouts! Your voice is heard: Direct sales bill gets a hearing on Wednesday!

If the motion fails then I see no reason why Scout can't just take a page out of Tesla's book and sell them anyway with some added steps for legal purposes. 1. Showroom with restriction (can't talk price, can't facilitate sale) 2. Online order which is processed out of state (Ex: Scout HQ in VA)...

South Carolina Scouts! Your voice is heard: Direct sales bill gets a hearing on Wednesday!

Back in the 1990's Ferrari dealerships across the US were in horrible shape. It was so bad that in 1994 Ferrari launched a factory-owned dealership just north of San Francisco. The main point was to show their North American dealers how to run a business from sales, service, customer relations...

That would compromise the "we are not VW" argument by Scout.

Poll: Physical Control Recommendations and/or Preferences

From a controls perspective I would imagine we've already surpassed the design freeze stage, no? Even further, didn't Keogh profess their belief in buttons over soft keys during the opening pitch? Honestly I can't imagine any of the functions listed in OP not having a button already. The only...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Sounds like a win for Tesla if all the main competitors to their Supercharger network just magically lost $5B in infra funding. It's as if their CEO has some kind of self-serving influence on policy or something.
