  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Scout Motors - who are your competitors?

Agreed. Scout ended production before I was born and I'm a city mouse mostly so I'd never heard of Scout until VW started talking about resurrecting the brand and making them EVs. I do a lot of camping and outdoors stuff so an off-road EV appeals to me but there just aren't any on the market...

If You're Worried About Off-Road Range Look At This

I know a lot of people have concerns about taking an EV rock crawling and off road and stuff. There aren't many "true" all-electric off roaders yet. But there are some. You might be surprised just how little energy off-roading actually uses!

Should Scout adopt the NACS (Tesla) charging system

Exactly! I've owned plug-in vehicles with the charge port on the driver's side front fender, the middle of the nose of the vehicle and the rear passenger side and from my experience the best place is actually right on the nose in the middle of the car. If you want a frunk (and I do!) then that's...

    Realistic range concerns.

Hahaha the entire world uses metric except the US, Liberia and Myanmar. I'm thinking it's probably you guys that should do the converting to real measuring methods! 😜

Should Scout adopt the NACS (Tesla) charging system

So does this imply the Scout will have it on the driver's side? 😜

Scout Motors - who are your competitors?

    I wouldn't even be considering a Scout right now if it wasn't a full-EV.

    Right-hand side charging access

EVs don't let you put it into drive if they're still plugged in and level 2 on-street charging is pretty common now in urban areas. We have a bunch of on street chargers here in Ottawa and I've used them in Montreal and other places. Putting the charge port on the passenger side makes the most...

    Right-hand side charging access

    Like Canada. ;)
  9. Cranky Canuck

    Realistic range concerns.

I agree. If the choice is between more range or faster charging definitely go with faster charging. I've been driving EVs (as our only vehicle) for 8 years now and faster charging is definitely the more useful trait. I'd take a 400km range with 300 kW charge speeds over a 500km range 150 kW...

Should Scout adopt the NACS (Tesla) charging system

I never understood Tesla's decision to place the charging port on the wrong side of the car. Charging ports should be on the passenger side so when you're doing on-street parking and possibly charging along the curb it's not sticking out into traffic. My preference would be passenger-side rear...

    SUV Reveal questions-pregame

@J Alynn the things I'm most curious about while you're there in person would be the ground clearance/fording depth, whether the charge port cover is manual or motorized, how the seats feel (if you're allowed in the vehicle at all), the pack chemistry (if they know yet). I may have more...

New Scout To Be Revealed On October 24, 2024

Definitely looks like a Frunk hood and front fender to me!

    TFLEV Discussing Upcoming Scout Reveal

Agreed. I also don't like how they spouted the easily debunked nonsense about weak EV sales and demand for plug-in hybrids. That's simply not based in facts and are marketing talking points being put out there by Toyota. PHEV sales have basically flat-lined at around 2% market share for the...

Please, No Free Fast Charging Credits

Some basic EV education for new owners would definitely go a long way...especially for GM vehicles lol
  15. Cranky Canuck

Please, No Free Fast Charging Credits

I was just using new EV owner/100% thing as an example. My main point was that giving away free DCFC charging to new EVs typically leads to bad experiences for the owners and those around them. If freebies are to be given away, they should enhance the EV experience and not detract from it and...

Please, No Free Fast Charging Credits

A common thing companies seem to be doing with new EVs has been to give free fast charging credits on one network or another along with the purchase of a new vehicle. Please Scout, don't do this! As a long time EV driver I have some insight as to why this is a terrible practice that should be...

    Will there be toys?

I would like a Hot Wheels Scout please!

    Yep, all very good points.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I've done many cross country road trips in my EV. I did a 1000kms in one day just for fun once and I routinely drive through the back woods of Ontario for many many hours visiting my partner's family cottage. I can understand your concerns coming from a fossil vehicle with limited EV experience...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

It was an interesting read and I found it amusing that it mentioned the Volt and i3, both of which have range extenders and both of which were discontinued. There's a reason why they were discontinued. The hint is at the beginning of the article where they say that idea behind a range extender...
