  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

I appreciate your concern but we're good. You can try to hurt my feelings but I'll just go to the doctor to get them checked for free.

    User programmable starting option

It's likely not necessary, EVs typically don't get stolen because the overseas markets don't have charging infrastructure. That will be even more true when all EVs in North America have NACS connectors (which Scout will have) because that particular plug is only a thing here in North America...

Charge port at front, passenger side

I mean, sure but the tank location doesn't really matter that much, they can get the fuel to where it's needed. That's what pipes are for lol

Yeah, I don't feel the need to carry a pew pew in my vehicles so that will never be a problem. People are generally friendly and interested, they're curious and I'm happy to help them learn why EVs are better. I've never felt threatened or anything. I guess we just live very differently. Here in...

I'm keeping my reservation. 2028 is a long way away and a lot can happen. I don't think Canada will tariff these vehicles, we aren't stupid. We'll see what happens. As for repairs I've owned enough EVs over the years to not be too worried about it. A lot of stuff can be done at local garages...

Charge port at front, passenger side

Ideally Scout would move the charging port to where the Harvester fuel door is and put the fuel door where the charging port currently is on the concept cars.

Driving shoes? I usually just wear whatever's on my feet, boots in the winter and shoes in the summer. Scout could partner with Vessi, good Canadian brand!

    Resale Value/Depreciation

Well I mean if there's bits that get damaged from rock hits and stuff those will start to rust so you'll still maybe want to coat them like you did on your Jeep but hopefully the Scout will be designed so that won't be necessary.

Now that America has become great, where will Scout Motors rank on this chart?

"accidentally ended up at the Kia dealership" :ROFLMAO: Did you just trip and fall into one!? hahahah love it!
  11. Cranky Canuck

    Resale Value/Depreciation

Short answer is no. In all likelihood Scout will apply an anti-rust coating at the factory as has been standard automotive practice for a couple of decades now. The steel components usually get hot-dip zinc galvanized while I think the aluminum components are usually just painted? Either way...

    Resale Value/Depreciation

Oh really? Ouch, that sucks for you all then! Hopefully Scout will interpret that to be "powertrain".

    Resale Value/Depreciation

I haven't lost a car to rust since the 90's when all the car makers started hot-dip galvanising them but a long warranty on suspension components and the electronics would be nice.

Me too. Honestly if Scout becomes untenable because of bad economic decisions by the US I might end up with an EV9 instead.

The Koreans make good stuff, and we have free trade with them.

Yep. But at least the Scouts are still three or four years away so there's time for things to return to sanity.

Now that America has become great, where will Scout Motors rank on this chart?

Oh I'm not holding my breath but I might have to buy a Chinese EV or even the Jeep Recon (assuming it's made in Canada) instead if this nonsense continues! That would be very unfortunate. Maybe the Koreans will make something interesting I could buy instead. They've been doing good stuff...

I'd love to order a patch but we're still boycotting US goods here. Sorry. Maybe one day when things go back to being sane I'll order a patch for my Scouter blanket. Hopefully that time will come back soon.

Now that America has become great, where will Scout Motors rank on this chart?

I'm hoping Scout opens a factory in Mexico and then uses that factory to export to Canada so that we won't have to pay tariffs on them. We still have free trade with Mexico because they still honour CUSMA (aka NAFTA). 🙃

Now that America has become great, where will Scout Motors rank on this chart?

Well the batteries are expected to be made in Canada so right there we know we know won't be 100% US made. It's pretty unrealistic to expect the vehicles to contain only 100% US components and measuring country of origin is a difficult task. North America has a very integrated automotive...
