  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Love the overhead compass!! Can't wait!!

    Interior space

Because it's a clean sheet EV platform they don't have the same constraints that a combustion-based platform has so there should be more room in the second row. Dedicated EV platforms tend to maximize internal volume because they don't need to account for a big engine up front. We'll see how...

    Whew...

I'm not arguing that EVs don't require raw materials, they obviously do but EVs aren't necessarily much heavier than similar ICE vehicles. Just a few examples to illustrate my point: Lexus LS460 Sedan: 4,674 lbs Hyundai Ioniq 6: 4,462 lbs BMW 3 Series: 4,138 lbs Tesla Model 3: 4,054 lbs BMW...

Biofuels will never make up enough fuel to matter and are generally a waste of resources, especially fuels like ethanol that displace food crops. They're hugely energy intensive to make and cause more pollution and CO2 than they prevent. We should be growing food, not fuel. Landfill methane will...

    Whew...

I know some people are hesitant but for me a new combustion or hybrid vehicle is thoroughly uninteresting. I have no interest in ever going back to a fossil vehicle.

    Whew...

Given that the renders in this video aren't even consistent in what they show I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is fake and Caterpiller has no plans to enter the consumer space with a pickup truck. This is just some internet designer's fevered dream posing as "fact". Also it appears to...

NOW CLOSED. Limited-Time Scout Community Merchandise

Wish I could but I live in Can't-ada, a magical land where American companies are apparently unable to ship things. :( Hopefully it won't be the same when it comes time to actually order the vehicles...

    Switches and Knobs?

I find Hyundai has struck a nice balance. My Ioniq 5 has switches and knobs for the things that make sense and a touchscreen for everything else. It's a pretty conventional modern car inside compared to most EVs and it does really well in Canadian winters here so I've been extremely happy with...

GFC / Rivian Build Series Part 1

He wasn't exactly "driving slowly" down fire roads lol they cut to his speedometer and he was going almost 100 mph haha Drive any vehicle at that speed and you're going to see a big range hit!

Scout Motors - who are your competitors?

Thanks for putting numbers to the sizes because I also thought it was an odd comment. His heart seems set on a 4runner for whatever reason, I just assume he's watched too many car camping 'overlanding' videos on YouTube. I think it's a mistake to put EVs in a box where they don't compete with...

Scout Motors - who are your competitors?

I have a friend in the market for a new 4x4 and he was looking at a Rivian but says they're "too small" somehow and too expensive which I get. He's currently looking at a 4Runner because Jeeps and Broncos are too unreliable. So really I think the Scout's competition is the 4Runner. If SM can...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Interesting news but I wouldn't hold your breath for magical improvements to charging speeds or anything. I wonder how the solved the ceramic separator cracking issue and the issues around the cells not working below 5 degrees C?

Guess who drives an IH Scout II? Tim Walz

Not a "tree hugger" but I do find it amusing that you think I spend a long time sitting at charging stations on road trips. (I also usually spend under 10 minutes charging!) You clearly have a lot to learn about EVs if that's what you actually believe but I won't try to change your mind, you've...

Guess who drives an IH Scout II? Tim Walz

Hydrogen is a non-starter for a number of reasons not least of which is that it is a horrendously inefficient use of energy and that's without getting into all the technological limitations like needing to replace they hydrogen tanks every 8 years. Hydrogen is a fossil fuel pretending to be a...

    Audio system

I'd say maybe a Canadian company should be considered too but I don't know of any Canadian audio companies. Grado is from the Bronx, New York if I'm not mistaken. Hand built headphones. About as American as you get I think.

Horse stables are still being built too. Doesn't mean we'll be using them as daily drivers. Global EV sales are already at around 20% of all new vehicles sold and that number is climbing at an accelerating rate according to multiple sources including the International Energy Agency...

    Audio system

I have a pair of their open-back headphones and they're incredible. Really affordable too! They brought out parts of songs I've been listening to for decades that I didn't even know existed.
