  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

And let's not forget that's for Harvester aka the EREV. If you want a BEV like me you'll have to wait until ???.

Yeah from purely a car perspective the situation isn't that grim however with stagnating wages/etc. affordability is definitely an issue. Focusing on just the cars you're right, a lot of economy cars from that era are now dead however all is not lost. Base MSRP of a Chevy Cobalt in 2008 was...

The first hybrid / EREV ?

That reminds me, you could also get it with those motors in all 4 wheels making this one of the first AWD cars.

Absolutely. Just to put all this in perspective check out these gas prices in San Francisco circa the crazy high gas price crisis in April of 2008... As you may remember, that was an event that spurred countless stories of people ditching their gas guzzlers, Ford Expeditions sitting on lots...

With regular gas now at ~$6.40/gal here I wanted to see what the cost would be to refuel a Chevy Tahoe and a R1S Long Range battery from 25% aka a "quarter tank" to full. Tahoe is $125, Rivian is $35. Just a reminder of why I have no interest in an EREV and want to just switch straight over to BEV.

The first hybrid / EREV ?

1900 Lohner-Porsche. This was an EREV aka an ICE to power a generator which supplied electricity to the motors or recharged the battery.

Before we get to events we need to talk about unveiling and launch schedule. Blame Tesla for this new accepted normal, but I'd like to return to a time when a car is unveiled and it'll be out next year. All the ways to spend marketing dollars you're talking about fall into a regular launch...

IMO marketing dollars wasted. This is something you do when you have cars that are available to buy right now. Instead you're going to lose a huge chunk of those expensive impressions to time, and time kills all deals. Imagine someone getting excited about Scout at the event only to learn that...

Ferdinand Piëch and Martin Winterkorn pressured engineering teams to make a diesel engine that could pass US emissions tests without using DEF. They put so much pressure on those teams to achieve this goal the engineering team felt they had no choice but to cheat. To do this they asked Bosch to...

Automotive moves at a very slow pace. The consequences facing Volkswagen today are the results of decisions made over the last 15 years. If I could post one picture that sums up who I blame it would be this.. Winterkorn: 2007-2015 Diess: 2018-2022 Winterkorn for Dieselgate. Diess for turning...

Worst news to hit Volkswagen workers since WWII and extremely sad. Here's an image from last week when CEO Oliver Blume rolled into the Zwickau plant to tell them it's over. If the grim reaper was a car, that black Transporter is it. :( On a personal note, my first car was a Passat built in...

New Scout Traveler Concept Added - Mountainside Theme

When it comes to interior materials I just want to see something that's animal free and if they throw in some cool recycled/repurposed materials for the decorative pieces that's cool too.

New Scout Traveler Concept Added - Mountainside Theme

Add me to the list of people who don't like the wood. I like it in concept, I like that they're playing with materials, but it gives me the feeling of something that'll look great posted online but is way too much in person and somewhat distracting. Guess I just want something cool but a bit...

I went by a VW Group R&D facility today and saw a Ford Explorer parked where they normally park electrified mules behind a fence. Are you saying that could have actually been a Scout mule?

    R2 Launch Watch

Yeah we're looking at backing out of our R2 res as well. Needs have changed and we also got to walk by an R2 this weekend. Wife took one quick look and said it's too small so yeah it's out. I'm holding onto the res for now but that's probably one that won't covert to an order. Scout is still on...

Pretty sure Scout isn't targeting rental car companies so I don't think they'll be competing for the same buyers.
