  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

(Planned) Route 66 Centennial Road Trip (Ended up being Great Lakes/Niagara Falls Trip)

Day 12 - 265 miles Travel day from Muskegon back to the Harvest Host location in OH that we stayed at on the way out. 2 charge stops, both at Meijer grocery stores, one in Grand Rapids (Electrify America) and the other one in Brighton (Tesla Supercharger). Got to the first charger with 43% and...

(Planned) Route 66 Centennial Road Trip (Ended up being Great Lakes/Niagara Falls Trip)

Day 11 Originally, this was supposed to be another travel day but plans changed and it became a beach/truck repair day. We planned to go to the beach in the morning on Lake Michigan before heading back to OH that afternoon, but when we got to the beach, my kids were having such a great time...

(Planned) Route 66 Centennial Road Trip (Ended up being Great Lakes/Niagara Falls Trip)

Day 10 - 317 miles Travel back down from the U/P to Muskegon on Lake Michigan. After checking over the tires before leaving for the day I felt a bit better because I didn't see the cracks I thought I had seen in the groove of the tread on one of the tires. Made a mental note to check them...

(Planned) Route 66 Centennial Road Trip (Ended up being Great Lakes/Niagara Falls Trip)

Day 9 Beach day on Lake Superior. My youngest daughter and I were taking a walk on the beach and found a cicada that had gotten into the water somehow and was in danger of drowning. She's a future entomologist and is fascinated by bugs anyway, so we picked it up and put it on a tree so it could...

(Planned) Route 66 Centennial Road Trip (Ended up being Great Lakes/Niagara Falls Trip)

Day 8 - 268 miles Travel day from Bay City State Park to Brimley State Park in the Upper Peninsula of MI on Lake Superior. We took the advice of some of the employees at the State Park in Bay City and took the route along the shoreline instead of the highway straight up through the middle of...

(Planned) Route 66 Centennial Road Trip (Ended up being Great Lakes/Niagara Falls Trip)

Day 7 Beach day on Lake Huron. The beach was nice, but the water was a bit mucky. The State Park beach was right across the road from the campground and there was a free L2 charger in the beach parking lot so I plugged in and charged while we were at the beach. Very convenient. Plugged in at...

They are fairly common. We used a few of them on our trip. Not the cheapest price per kWh, but not the most expensive either. https://www.redecharge.com/

(Planned) Route 66 Centennial Road Trip (Ended up being Great Lakes/Niagara Falls Trip)

Day 6 - 201 miles Travel day from Helena, OH to Bay City, MI. We made 2 charge stops but could have done it in 1 if I had made better choices of chargers. We were still learning and making some mistakes at this point. I used a Chargepoint in Brighton, MI that ended up charging slower than I...

(Planned) Route 66 Centennial Road Trip (Ended up being Great Lakes/Niagara Falls Trip)

Day 5 - 178 miles Travel day from the campground in East Springfield, PA to the Harvest Host location in Helena, OH. One charge stop at a grocery store near Cleveland. We needed supplies at this point so we did some shopping while the truck charged. By this point, we were getting more...

(Planned) Route 66 Centennial Road Trip (Ended up being Great Lakes/Niagara Falls Trip)

Day 4 This was July 4th, and we spent most of the day on Lake Erie again. That night we saw a great fireworks display over the lake. A much needed relaxing day after the previous hectic travel days. We didn't have a 50A plug on our campsite, but I was talking to the owner for a while, and he...

(Planned) Route 66 Centennial Road Trip (Ended up being Great Lakes/Niagara Falls Trip)

Day 3 Had to start off with a charge and the nearest DCFC was a Shell Recharge that was slower and only hit about 60kW max so charging took longer. We spent a while in the travel plaza thinking long and hard about the rest of the trip. We had been planning the Route 66 trip for months, but the...

(Planned) Route 66 Centennial Road Trip (Ended up being Great Lakes/Niagara Falls Trip)

Day 2 - 361 miles We got a later start than I'd hoped for and only left the campground around noon on 7/2. This was one of our longest and most unpleasant travel days of the trip, mostly due to the extreme heat wave we were experiencing. With 5 of us in the Lightning running the A/C, plus, what...

(Planned) Route 66 Centennial Road Trip (Ended up being Great Lakes/Niagara Falls Trip)

I had hoped to update this thread sooner, but long travel days and poor or non-existent cell service at campgrounds presented a challenge. I did drop an update in The Garage thread after our first day on the road. Long story short, we lost 2 and a half days in the beginning of the trip due to...

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

Thanks. We have a Gulf Stream Amerilite 248BH. For our family (2 adults and 3 kids) the layout works because it has bunks, a queen bed and the dinette converts to a bed, so it sleeps 5. And, it's light enough for the truck to pull it easily and not be over capacity.

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

I spent the last 2 days in my garage working on my camper replacing the wheel bearings, then fixing a broken faucet. We were supposed to leave on Monday for our Route 66 trip, but I was working at an event all weekend for work and didn't have time to check over the camper until Monday. When I...

Scout Concepts in Hudson, New York, July 3, 2026

Ugh, this kills me because I have been waiting for them to come close to me so I can see them in person again. I drove down to NYC in September last year to see the Traveler at the event there, but was really hoping to see the Terra since that is what my reservation is for. This event is only...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

When the weather is warm, I don't plug in every night. Only when needed which usually ends up being every 2-3 days. When it's cold, like below freezing, I usually plug in every night so the BMS can warm the battery as needed using shore power and not have to take it from the battery. Also, if...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

Maybe the novelty hasn't worn off yet or maybe I'm just immature. I've had my Lightning since last September, so not a year yet. I still enjoy the acceleration immensely. In fact, there is a drag strip about 45 minutes from my house and they do test and tune nights every Wednesday during the...

First Time EV Owner: Live experience report

This is something I am thinking about as I prepare to embark on a cross-country road trip later this month. i plan to get memberships with a few of the networks to get the discounted pricing, but I know that if I use Plug and Charge through the Ford app, I won't get the discounts. Wondering if I...

First Time EV Owner: Live experience report

I'm very sorry to hear this @Logan I hope your family heals as best they can. If you want the most accurate info from ABRP on your trip, you can get an OBD2 dongle that has Bluetooth BLE and connect ABRP so it has live info about your battery SOC, etc. that way, it can tell you much more...
