  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

You couldn't pry the EREV from my cold dead hand. No kidding. I'm so pumped at the prospect of having a fully capable adventure platform. It's fully baked into the new Scout's DNA - It's WHY all this money, time and effort is being poured into building an entirely new company, mindset and...

What trim levels would you like to see at launch?

I would love to see it kept very simple from a trim level standpoint and let the Scout script logo really shine. You could lean on variants of the alpha convention they used in the past - but this time it's Alpha, Bravo, Charlie. I would not stick that on the vehicle anywhere though...

Will the Scout EREV be obsolete by the time it gets here in 2027/28?

It is true that cars today can tell you time to destination and estimate values like range remaining upon arrival and even update in real-time based on known conditions available to the car via the cloud - traffic, wx, etc., and it's not a great leap to program in some sort of alert and call to...

Will the Scout EREV be obsolete by the time it gets here in 2027/28?

Agreed. I think the main benefit is being able to put the vehicle into a mode that ensures the battery is charged up prior to campsite arrival. I'm hoping that at some point these are the types of scenarios/outcomes that an AI agent can help alert and/or plan for automatically. So imagine...

Will the Scout EREV be obsolete by the time it gets here in 2027/28?

35s from Factory will be the max as I'm guessing fitting 37s takes some trimming to stock setup, but no metal work. Scout just wanted to show off and hint that you CAN do it if you want to. I'm planning on 35s for the Terra and would love to have an 18" wheel option!

Will the Scout EREV be obsolete by the time it gets here in 2027/28?

The 21/22 inch wheels on most EVs with low profile and smooth edge treads are always the optimal setup, as they have a pretty decent impact on aero. The smallest we'll see is maybe 19s for the AT/MT setups, as you still gotta clear the massive brakes, but when you add in the offroad treads and...

Will the Scout EREV be obsolete by the time it gets here in 2027/28?

So here's another thought, and honestly it's probably the basis of our next podcast considering the radical difference in range for new EVs like ix3, R2 and yes, the infamous Jeep Recon, all 3 of which take vastly difference engineering directions. This 350 mile range for the BEV sure seems...

Will the Scout EREV be obsolete by the time it gets here in 2027/28?

With the recent updates from CATL and others, the pivot to sodium tech in the interim, it sure looks like we're 4-5 years away from true commercialization of SSB, and another 5 years rampup from there. As so many have pointed out, even the arrival of SSD or other high density batteries doesn't...

Y'all killing me.... Let's get some uploads!

Will the Scout EREV be obsolete by the time it gets here in 2027/28?

Yep. Everything is a tradeoff. There's "Better" battery chemistries out there that manufacturers bypass for a million reasons. They choose the chemistry for the market, use case, cost to acquire, support, etc.

Will the Scout EREV be obsolete by the time it gets here in 2027/28?

100% This. EV evangelists always want to say this thing makes that thing "obselete"...as if EVs made the millions upon millions of other cars on the road today are obsolete. And yet...EVs are less than 10% of the US market. Having an EREV means in some ways you're future proof - you have no...

Scout Motors announces in-vehicle satellite connectivity and highlights Scout Community UX interface at CES 2025

My cell phone has starlink connectivity baked right in nowadays, didn't have to smell anyone's farts. You can turn it on/off on your plan thru t Mobile app whenever you want. Was perfect option in January when we visited moab over a long weekend. Most of the national parks are cell deserts...

Actual delay official and order of deliveries confirmed?

Ford has announced the launch model on the next Gen EV platform will be a mid sized pickup. It's going to be CHEAP as hell to produce and will spawn a lot of variants. It's not a Scout competitor by any means, as it will be more akin to the old Ford ranger sport trucks, or something like...

Why I'm Cancelling My R2 Reservation

We reserved an R2 this week that will hopefully replace the wife's Blazer EV in December. While a Scout Terra EREV and Traveler BEV would be an awesome duo, they aren't both fitting in the garage! R2 is sized right for daily activity, looks fantastic and the tech stack looks like it's future...

Please don't put the Harvester engine behind/below the rear axle

Tub-talk taking over this thread is [chef's kiss] Frunks rule, BTW. Use it ALL THE TIME and i know exactly how we'll allocate it daily and for adventure trips as we build up the rig.

Please don't put the Harvester engine behind/below the rear axle

Very much looking forward to the engine placement aft rear axle and set low enough in the frame to keep EV like driving dynamics due to lower CG. I'll keep my frunk than you very much ;-) I'm very curious on how serviceability shakes out for the generator - could the configuration even make...

I'm not quite sure what you mean as the Terra concept hasn't had any plate on it previously
