  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Wheel Style Poll

I do too! But, I really need the aero wheels for range. I wish #2 came with 18's. In my opinion the design doesn't go well with larger wheels. Maybe thats why #2 has the least votes. So, #4 it is until Scout comes out with a better option. I would really love a riff on the steelies found on...

That's OK. Just swing them by my house in Broomfield on the way back to South Carolina. :)

Glad you added Salt Lake City. Seems like a big miss in the original map.

    CYURE GOES TO SC!! 8/22/2026

@J Alynn How do you think the cabana roof will hold up over time? That's my biggest concern. I love the concept but I can picture worn, cracked and leaky material after several years in the sun. Maybe I''m jaded by older convertibles and soft tops on jeeps and broncos. Will the cabana roof have...

Wow! Denver is covering a lot of territory. Feels kind of like an island actually. I'm glad I live close by.

    Local Scout Event

@Jamie@ScoutMotors will this event in Aspen require purchasing an event pass? Tickets are pricey to say the least!

    CYURE GOES TO SC!! 8/22/2026

"Bigger than I thought it would be" seems to be the general consensus. I'm hoping that at least partially an artifact or the massive roof rack.

Hopefully something more like this! That's an elecrtic motor by the way.

    Google Gemini AI Scout Images

Your sir are an AI artist! Seeing the Traveler without tire carrier inspired me to consider whether removing accessories would make the vehicle feel smaller. Many of the people in this group who have seen the traveler in person, myself included, have come away with the impression that it is a...

    Scout Color Poll #1

This color scheme reminds me of the Scout on the Hillside I pass when traveling to our cabin above Boulder. She's beautiful.

@CP1@scoutmotors Do those tires look like 33's to you? Just curious :)

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Standardizing on a launch version is exactly the right move and making the build desireable makes sense as well considering they will be supply limited to start given the production ramp. They can launch at $85K and it wouldn't impact me directly because by the time my number comes up it will be...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Yeah, I started the conversation as a thought exercise mostly because I am curious about the performance envelop of the EREV. I had no intention of fear mongering. I want to understand the level of planning required to manage past the initial 150 miles of battery range. There is so much talk...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Well stated and I'm sure power management will be handled elegantly through software. That said, towing may not be as simple as gas and go. Charging will still be inportant in many scenarios so the weeks long boondocking trips people are touting EREVs for may not be as care free as first thought...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

I'm pleasantly surprised by the math for the "built rig" scenario though I remain a tad skeptical on the performance front especailly if the RPM is capped on the engine for efficiency/longevity reasons. They put big engines in big vehicles for a reason. That said, a turbo would make a...

That's a neat display. I wonder if it is for the kids to play with? If so, great idea.

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Many thanks for the thoughtful reply. This is excatly the information I was looking for and I think it helps set realistic expectations with the potential for people to be pleasantly surprised. There seems to be a blanket assumption that EREV technology has few if any limitations. We know...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Not completely hypothetical. We can guess vehicle weight conservatively, and the weight of after market overlanding equipment isn't hard to identify. A conservative estimate of payload should be possible as well. Most importantly, Scout has at least informally announced the class of genset they...

Is there anything SM could offer to get you to switch from EREV to BEV?

Do we have enough information on the proposed engine for the Harverster? I recall hearing it will be a 4-cyclnder VW sourced unit. I ask because I am genuinely curious how that engine will perform in the scenario outlined by @ROMR_Casey. Let's assume a fully armored Scout on 35's with a roof...

    FB find of the day

That makes sense to me. Would be interesting if that port were a low voltage solar input for battery maintenance or some other novel use case. Mostly I was just curious. Fun to speculate.
