  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

I am going to answer your last question first - you don't need to worry about the 12V battery losing charge (in any weather conditions) in an EV. The 12V battery in a ICE vehicle will lose charge because it only gets charged when the car is running. That's not the case in an EV. In an EV the...

I'll jump on that "I'm old" bandwagon. Who here know what WKRP in Cincinnati is?

    R2 Launch Watch

Don't say that! You'll jinx it. :D Whenever I start getting discouraged about the plan to deliver the EREV first, I remind myself that Jamie told us that the same assembly line can be used for both the EREV and BEV. So those of us with BEV orders will not have to wait for additional factory...

Wow! I just noticed that this thread is up to 500 pages! We are a chatty bunch. 😁

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

I work from home but travel into the office once a week, so I don't put a lot of mileage on my Ioniq 5. I will plug in the car when it gets below 50%. I end up charging about once a week. Unless I am planning a long drive, I only charge to 80% at home (the charge limit is controlled by the car).

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

My EV (Ioniq 5) doesn't make any motor noise when driving. What you hear when driving regularly is either road noise (that is, the sound the tires make on the road) or wind noise. The car does make a audible beeping sound when in reverse, but it is quieter than what a delivery truck makes...

The sound from the Jay Leno video is not what the production vehicles will sounds like. They even mention in the video that the sound you hear is from a non-production motor used in the prototypes.

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

It's a personal thing, not a vehicle thing. I tried the EV super-acceleration a couple of times when I first got the Ioniq 5. Now I drive in eco mode or normal mode, I have not used performance mode since the first week of ownership. I occasionally use the acceleration when necessary (avoidance...

First Time EV Owner: Live experience report

I have been using EA for over two years; I was not aware of a RFID card, I though that was only available via a phone. I always try the sensor approach first. I open the app on my phone, plug in my car, and then hold the phone in front of the sensor panel on the charger cabinet. That's always...

What's it like to take a road trip in a truck like the Terra (F-150 Lightning)?

If there was ever any doubt that this trip actually happened, you have laid them to rest. Thanks for the detailed info on your EV truck's performance. I am sure this has been helpful for everyone here.

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

I have never heard of dimming side view mirrors, are they actually a thing? What vehicles have them? I would love this as a feature.

    Standard Packages Identified Yet

If they follow the approach of other auto companies, final prices and package/accessory costs will likely be available about 6 months before deliveries. Given that they will start production late 2027 with initial deliveries in early 2028, that means final pricing is will be communicated in the...

April 2026 Scout Production Center Update

"Walk and talk" factory tour videos, yes! If you can, ask them to do at least a short part with the camera on an electric cart going through the main building. That will make the scale of this new effort a lot more obvious.

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

I don't think this is "niche"; the Rams have storage like this (Rambox) as standard in their highest trim levels. I would certainly be tempted by a storage system like this if it was available for the Terra.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Since Jeep still makes and sells a two door version of the Wrangler, it would not be a major engineering effort to make a two door pick-up version. So I would say it is likely they will make this.

    Different logo spots

Do you think they would be willing to sell Scout logo emblem/badges (or whatever they are called) so owners can apply them if they want? I prefer to not have excessive logos on my vehicle, and will likely remove any that are on the sides or rear.

(Planned) Route 66 Centennial Road Trip (Ended up being Great Lakes/Niagara Falls Trip)

Thanks for the update. I hope the trailer works out for you, it sounds like you have a good plan in place, but a long trip as your first serious use of the trailer seems a bit daring. Do you have experience towing and camping in a trailer?

    A less screen, focused layout

Unfortunately, a quick Google search shows that SD card slots in cars are usually used for recording dash-cam video. Does anyone know if they can be used for both recording video and music playback?

    A less screen, focused layout

An SD slot in the glove box? That is brilliant! Most cars have a data USB port, so I load up music and audio-books on USB drives to listen in the car. An place to put in an SD drive would be even better, since then I could still use the data USB port for my phone.
