  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Questions about the Harvester

Motor Trend compared the GMC Sierra EV to the Rivian tri-motor. The GMC is rated at 440 miles. Motor Trend went 422 mi @70 mph using 95% of the battery. Impressive. Rivian travelled 267 miles against a 329 mile rating in the same test...

What 16 Metro's Will Scout Launch?

25 locations in 16 metros was Scout's original claim.

What will be your Scout's Vanity Plate?

Vanity plates aren't my thing but to each their own!

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

The VW ID.Buzz offers it. Perhaps it will be a future option. Cadillac offers a version in the Celestiq with 4 individually controllable sections for the passengers--pretty cool!

    Spare tire discussion

If the Harvester is indeed in the rear of the Scout, there may not be room for a spare there. The only options would be external, internal cargo area, or frunk.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I'd like to see the USA data. China and Norway are going to skew those numbers.

    Travelall 3 Row

The Terra's wheelbase is over 2 ft. longer than the Traveler's, so a 3-row version based on the Terra seems doable. The general public would surely love it, but the Scout enthusiasts here also love a smaller 2-door.

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

I would appreciate if they would use some of that VW know-how and design the doors to close with a solid "thunk". No tinny doors, please.

US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

It's electric. Every other minivan is gas or hybrid. Plus, it's made in Germany and doesn't qualify for the $7,500 tax credit. We also get a long wheelbase model that is well equipped. Europe offers a more affordable shorter one.

US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

That 231 range is optimistic, too. Car and Driver got only 190 miles@75 mph. The ID Buzz would benefit from a Harvester system. I hope Scout has a range closer to the EPA figure, but I won't be surprised if they don't.

    Super Bowl Commercial?

A 30 second Superbowl ad is $7 million. Scout won't be on sale for at least 2 years. It's a colossal waste of money to advertise a product that can't even be ordered. It would only serve to annoy people.

Position charge port BEHIND the power outlets

No, I have never considered that. I'm glad you have your priorities straight! ? I've never owned an EV, so I will defer to those that have. The Harvester fuel filler has to go somewhere, ideally close to the tank.

    Audio system

I had a 2005 Acura TL. I loved playing DVD-Audio on it, especially Roy Orbison's Black and White Night. By the way, Panasonic made the ELS system (They also made the Fender system in my VW Golf). My Lexus LC500 will play some of my DVD-Audio discs, but not all (LC's had a CD/DVD player until 2024).

Traveler spare tire carrier - other locations?

The Harvester option might make it difficult to mount a tire underneath (assuming the Harvester is indeed rear-mounted). That would leave inside, frunk, or external as options. Underneath should be doable with EV-only models.

How will the scouts handle the extreme cold?

Many EV's allow you to warm up/condition the battery with an app. There's no reason Scout can't do the same.

How will the scouts handle the extreme cold?

It's hard to compare us to Norway. They have less than 6 million people, are 80% urbanized and are sitting on a sovereign wealth fund of 1.7 trillion USD. They offer many incentives for EV buyers and their great wealth makes it easier for them to add charging stations. Countries that don't...
