  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

How will the scouts handle the extreme cold?

A year ago Magna was said to be an engineering partner. I wonder how much they contributed? They have offices all over the world, including Michigan. For those don't know, Magna builds the G-Wagen in Austria. They also did engineering work for the INEOS Grenadier.

Realistic EV Range Degradation and Prediction?

Every year we are told solid-state batteries are just a few years away. 2032-35 is realistic for mass production. Solid-state for Scout would have to be ready in under 3 years, and there's no way they would (initially) meet a $60k price point. It is exciting tech that will accelerate EV...

Future Model: Scout Sport- Smaller, and more efficient, but still capable.

Clamshell doors I like clamshell doors. I'm not an engineer, but I wonder if it's harder for them to meet side impact standards or just more of a pain in the butt to design? You don't see them very often in smaller vehicles. Honda had the Element and BMW the i3 with them. Or maybe people don't...

Future Model: Scout Sport- Smaller, and more efficient, but still capable.

Oh, you've made many people happy (and created a firestorm of speculation)!

    Reveal - No Way!!!!

Traveler dimensions have been updated. Length is 190.9 in. without external spare. Width is 79.9 in. without mirrors.

FNG, with no to little knowledge about EV's

Tesla wasn't profitable until 2020. Ford loses money on every EV it sells, too. It takes time and lots of investment. However, the same obstacles apply to starting any car company, whether gas or EV (see Mclaren). Rivian does have the advantage of Amazon's investment and now VW's. There's no...

    Optional Third Row

The 6 passenger benches will work for many. The Terra is over 3 ft longer than the Traveler, so a longer 3-row SUV could conceivably be built in the future if demand is there.

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

A vented rear seat isn't the same as a ventilated one. Vented usually means the rear seats have an air vent. A ventilated seat is perforated and has air blown through it.

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

I want the Flintstones edition. Hard to get more old school than that!

    Rear Window

With the tailgate design, there doesn't seem to be enough room in the hatch for the window to roll down.

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

VW's history with diesel in the USA would put them under a microscope. Diesel means dealing with particulate filters and DEF. Even if a diesel generator was somehow exempt from those emissions, they would catch tremendous flak for pollution.

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

And if the generator runs on gasoline and not diesel? Neither has been confirmed, but I doubt diesel will be the fuel of choice. There's been endless speculation since Harvester was announced, but it's pointless until Scout releases more technical information.

    Harvester Talk: Q&A

Scout has said all along the Harvester will not affect the frunks. All information has indicated the Harvester is in the rear, with a fuel tank possibly in the front. The fuel filler neck is on the front passenger fender. The system is still being engineered: we don't know much more at this time.

    Reservations from Canada

It doesn't look like they're going to have any service centers open in Canada until year two and even then it will only be two locations. 7 locations by 2032.

Future Model: Scout Sport- Smaller, and more efficient, but still capable.

It's too bad the Suzuki Jimny isn't sold in the USA. They're pretty cool. I saw a bunch of them recently in South Africa. The Land Cruiser series 70 is still available there too.

    Ideas for Scout Engineers

So far, the 240 has only been shown/mentioned for the Terra.

Scout retail/service centers will only be in 16 markets initially. Perhaps they will have traveling exhibitions in other areas to give more people a first-hand look at them.

Any talk of crab crawl mode ?

The GM EV's that crab walk have 2 or 3 motors. It's the 4-wheel steering that makes it possible.

    Please limit immediate resale.

There is precedent. The Ford GT had a no-resale for 2 years after the purchase clause in the sales agreement. They took John Cena to court over it (they settled. Cena paid Ford who donated it to charity). However, that was a limited-production supercar and buyers were vetted.
