  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

You're probably right about demand. A larger three-row has more potential for sales. Hopefully they'll still do a two-door. I believe Wrangler two-door sales account for 10 to 15% of the total. Bronco 2-doors are around 30%.

The 1.5 in the Taos is made in Mexico. It's on the EA211 family. They should be able to make a suitable engine there.

It takes time and expense to build an engine plant. In the short term, it's easier to just pay tariffs on something made in Mexico. Tariffs come and go. Volkswagen does make engines with both port and direct fuel injection. The EA888 4-Cylinder in my 2019 Golf R was sold in Europe with both...

Some suggestions that I believe would make Scout the best Electric Offroad option

I read the Wrangler Rubicon's width as 73.9 in which is 6 inches less than a Traveler (the Scout's mirrors do widen it considerably to 91.6).

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

That seems like a legal nightmare waiting to happen.

If it's being built in Mexico, I would guess a modified version of the EA888 or EA211 sans turbo. I also have concerns about using DI only.

    Any chance on flat four?

At that point VW isn't profitable in the United States. Neither is Stellantis. Or any other car company for that matter.

    Any chance on flat four?

It costs a lot to set up an engine plant (not to mention labor costs and environmental regs). It's easier to just pay the tariffs and import them from Mexico

    Any chance on flat four?

Very little info. It seems Navistar makes engines there. I'm not sure what else.

    Any chance on flat four?

VW makes a 1.5L for the Taos/Jetta and a 2.0L for Atlas and Jetta in Mexico. They are possible candidates. I don't believe VW makes engines in the USA.

Great interview. Scott is always enthusiastic and impressive. Some highlights: 1). BEV battery will be in the "120's-130's" kWh, EREV will be "60's-70's", but the battery chemistries may be different. 2). Performance of EREV will be 0-60 in 4.5 vs. 3.5 for BEV, due to a "less expensive...

South Carolina Scouts! Your voice is heard: Direct sales bill gets a hearing on Wednesday!

Dealers have a monopoly and they want it to continue. There's no mystery to it. Meanwhile, they make very little money on retail sales. All their profits come from used cars, service, and finance.

Does Scout Motors Need A Challenge Coin Too?

Yeah, it sucks. I'm not even going to waste any more time here tonight. It reminds me of this funny spoof:
