  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I feel like Jeep lost the plot a long time ago...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

@jeremydunworth, I want to be sure I didn't mis-speak: my "thank you" in the last post was 100% genuine, no sarcasm intended. I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to highlight actual data. Your points are valid. The Ioniq 5 situation is a perfect example of how subsidies and margins get...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

@jeremydunworth, thank you for bringing actual, empirical data to this discussion. This is exactly the kind of evidence that cuts through the corporate talking points. That first article completely dismantles the "it's just inflation" excuse. The data shows exactly what I have been arguing...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

Regarding your comparison of the Scout to a 2026 Tundra Limited... this is a false equivalency. You are citing the Tundra's $60k price as if it justifies the Scout's pricing strategy, but that misses why the Tundra can command that price in the first place. Toyota has spent decades building a...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

@R1TVT, I recognize that we are prioritizing different things: I am focused on the market data and the reality of the Scout rollout, while you are focused on the meta-discussion of how I format my thoughts. You are free to label my posts however you like, but I have no interest in engaging with...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

@robothero, that is a fair point and a valid piece of context. You're right that the heavy level of state bailing and subsidies in that market makes a direct line-by-line manufacturing cost comparison to Western OEMs imperfect. I leaned too heavily into the China factor in my last post to make a...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

@R1TVT, yes, I use AI tools to help organize my writing and workflow—both professionally and personally. But fixating on how my posts are formatted is a pretty transparent way to avoid addressing the actual data. It seems that when the math gets too difficult to refute, attacking the messenger...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

@R1TVT, your analogy relies on a completely false premise. First, Scout Motors is not a "brand new OEM" operating out of a garage. They are a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group. They are backed by an initial $2 billion (now reportedly $3 billion) investment from VW, plus a $1.3...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

@OleScout, your cold plunge analogy is incredibly accurate (I built my own cold plunge from an old deep freezer in 2024, btw), but I want to clarify one thing: when I say I want a ~$45k starting price, I am not asking for a bare-bones "feed trough" like the Slate. The Slate is honestly a...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I appreciate the sarcasm, but your math assumes that $60k is some kind of standard middle ground. It isn't. In today's market, $60,000 is the start of luxury pricing. If Scout's absolute stripped-down baseline is $60k, they haven't squeezed into a window—they have already entered the luxury...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

@strider, there is no need to get frustrated. We are just looking at the same corporate rollout through different lenses. But you made two points in your last reply that I have to push back on because they fundamentally rewrite reality. First, your claim that Scout has always shown and...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

@strider, I understand the macroeconomic reality of inflation perfectly well. But you can't accuse people of "anchoring" when Scout is the one who set the anchor. When pre-orders opened, Scout was actively advertising a starting price of "under $50k." Last time I checked the fine print on their...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

Catching up on the thread after a bit. I see we are still using $60k Tahoes to establish a baseline and insisting that an accessible starting price simply isn't realistic anymore. I was watching the TFL YouTube video today of a recent walk-around of the Scout in the PNW, and Tommy said...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I know the dealer lawsuit has been debated to death, so I won't rehash it. I will just add this: I worked as a car salesman for three and a half years while in college, and I am absolutely amazed that we haven't abolished that scam of a business model by now. I genuinely hope Scout wins that...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

I had a moment yesterday that perfectly encapsulates where we are at with this wait. I was on the phone with a small local dealership, still looking around for a gap vehicle to bridge the time until the Scout launches. The dealer was actually familiar with Scout and mentioned it looked like a...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

@strider, that is actually a really solid counterpoint. You are absolutely right that adding the Harvester drastically increases their Total Addressable Market (TAM). If that $1.2B investment allows them to scale volume efficiently enough to offset the upfront CapEx, then the MSRP doesn't...

Don't let the Scout become a status symbol; why $60k misses the point of the Revival

Hey everyone, It's been a few weeks since I've logged in... just a lot of work and life lately. I was catching up on the Q1 auto sales numbers that just dropped, and it’s a pretty wild market right now. With new EV sales taking a hit and the used market getting flooded with off-lease vehicles...

Long-Term Paint Protection: PPF, Coatings, and Launch Availability

I'm not sure I would trust myself. It's definitely something I'll look into, but I would love to have a workmanship warranty from a reputable installer if possible.
