  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    R2 Launch Watch

Yeah. Unless they somehow subsidize things a lot for the early reservation holders (unlikely), I'm thinking $80-90k. What I do hope, is at least for people on the forum here, if there is any special discount/features available in the launch edition, and we are unable to purchase (because, uh...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

I had similar thoughts. But on the offroading practical front, without air suspension, you're going to limit the wheel travel quite a bit with large tires that fill the wheel wells. Although air suspension cranked to high clearance mode also limits wheel travel, just in a different way. You...

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

I've got an TT-30 - L14-30R adapter, that simply bonds both phases of plug, to the same 120v input. This means that any 120v load in the home works, but the 240v stuff can't. So with a physical transfer switch, I just shut down those circuits. My electricity costs are $0.1064/kwh. There...

    Please no erev!

You may have seen it, but recently I did an 850 mile road trip in my EV, that I usually do in my PHEV vehicle. As someone who has made the transition, and understands long road trips like you’re talking about, I have one suggestion. Next time you take a road trip, count your stops, and time...

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

Great input. I'm a bit lucky in this case, in the sense that I really can only feasibly run 120v loads in my home, and have no truly essential 240v loads. We have propane fireplace and cooktop, heat pump for cooling/heat, and a yuuuuge 80amp backup resistive heater for when its too cold for...

    What's the current timeline??

Short version of ladder frame. For the longest time, a vehicle was built using a frame, with a body that was bolted onto it. Frames got better over time, and now mostly look a bit like "ladders", because they are effectively 2 main frame rails, with cross bracing. They look like this. Easy to...

    Phone cooler

Yeah, this is basically exclusive to wireless charging, particularly while its sunny out. Like you said though, just plugging it in, and moving it to the shade fixes it. I've heard some brands doing active cooling on the wireless charger pads, but I think thats still fairly uncommon.

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

All good input. Locally we have fixed utility rates, so no peak shaving to be done. And most of our power outages locally are in the winter, overnight. So solar is less of a consideration for me at the moment. PNW winter time is very dark/rainy, so I'm not convinced that even relatively large...

    Turning off ALL notification beeps.

I'm on my first vehicle with parking sensors, and yes, it does freak out and beep every, single, time I pull into or out of the garage (unless I manually silence the beeps, which turns them off for the whole power cycle of the vehicle). Location dependent proximity sensor settings would be...

    Subscriptions / Updates

The legacy support part is definitely a consideration, I totally get that. Even worse when you consider things like what happened when 3g support was yanked by carriers. Updates for new phones/standards, is a tricky subject. If push came to shove, I think I would probably rather pay a one...

    Modular add-ons

I've just heard so many horror stories of sunroofs and other things leaking, to want to worry about that here, where it is raining 7-9 months of the year. But I totally get the appeal. Glass roof I worry about breaking some (just another thing to go wrong compared to a steel roof), but luckily...

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

Yeah, this is exactly what I've been waiting on/thinking about. A critical loads panel with effectively what would amount to a large UPS would mean that if the power went out while we were gone, the fridge/freezer stuff would stay good automagically. Plus some things like main area lights would...

Good old Peanut Butter Yellow. (I know, I know. But even after all this time, I still see that first) (I might be broken in some way :P). To the OP's point though, I also don't want required subscriptions. Obviously things like the heated seat fiasco come to mind (with BMW). But also...

    Phone cooler

I think I have an iphone... 14? 13? I don't really keep track/care. I can wirelessly charge with my phones case on it. But when it overheated the first time I took the case off, and tried again (I was on a 15hr road trip, so I didn't mind taking it off for that). But that didn't help it at all...

The Garage (What did you work on today?)

I've been low key considering a home backup system for a few years now. I keep going back and forth between something small/portable that would work for camping as well (with a TT-30 plug, that I can plug into my homes manual transfer switch), or something larger that is fixed in place more...

    Phone cooler

Not at all. It happens even in cars with the AC on at reasonable levels. I had this happen on my road trip to Utah recently. Phone laying flat on the wireless charger in the center console, AC set to 70f. Phone overheated multiple times, and stopped charging (my iphone doesn't turn off, it...

    Please no erev!

Increasing the buffer size for towing makes sense to me (what scout is doing). Increasing the size of the battery for towing makes sense to me (sort of, its a design choice to carry more battery around for towing, which is questionable when you already have a v6 gas engine for power, and a 27...

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Lol, yep. No one wants to go far out of their way/comfort zone to go see them :P. Well, other than some of the forumites that loiter around here :D. I've got a recommendation on a place, but I really doubt that scout is looking here looking for their next destination, especially for places...

    R2 Launch Watch

This is exactly the main way I've felt it as well. In terms of passenger space/volume.
