  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Beautiful previews of Traveler on 37's + winch off-road bumper + roof rack ?

Understand some of the points made here. SM shouldn’t be making trucks for the .001% of gonzo Rubicon vertical rock wall rigs that get trailered to the place they get destroyed. Make a solid and dependable platform that people can mod as they wish. I’ve taken largely stock Land Rover...

Beautiful previews of Traveler on 37's + winch off-road bumper + roof rack ?

I’ll be the guy on 33s happily toddling along with no broken suspension components on my rig.

    No regenerative braking!!!!!!!

? here for regen braking. If it wasn’t being included, I’d have serious reservations about the design and engineering.

Scout Field Service Manuals - Technical Manuals Would Be Fantastic For Owners

Field service for what, LOL? Coming from a Tesla, there was virtually no maintenance. Okay, tires ONCE. ?

Adaptive Driving beams and thermal imaging.

The current design of the lights doesn't seem to be adaptive. There are less expensive ways to accomplish adaptive style performance (e.g., side marker / fog light illumination on turning). I've ranted elsewhere about making LED boards and drivers ACCESSIBLE for owner maintenance - like...

    Video Game Turn Signals ?

I’ll repeat what I’ve said elsewhere, @Scout Motor Co: please do not bury LED boards in unserviceable locations that require removing bumpers, arches and fenders when they inevitably fail (just like light bulbs). I’m against a $$$$ headlight repair on my beloved VW Touareg because one of the...

The Road to Scout Production - All the latest updates in one place...

Thanks, Jamie, for the update! I’m in the trades, in lighting and controls integration, and would love to contribute. Curious to know, will the site have a solar farm as part of the energy mix? Just up the road, in NC, we’re seeing most manufacturing facilities integrating sizable solar capacity.

The Road to Scout Production - All the latest updates in one place...

Humility and earnestness are two traits that ring as consistent themes from your team. Love to see it, and knowing the team’s impressive bonafides only makes that all the more fun. What will keep the community enthusiastic (and drive revenue) is that everyone there seems to embrace and have...

New Scout Video - Forging the Future Episode 1

    This is excellent. Let’s go!

    How much?

This belongs in the Scout Color Poll thread. Let’s call it the Salt Road Buff option?

    GPS suggestions

Third party maps with OTA / RDS updates please. Not interested in dealer updates via an SD card (VW, talking to you). Topo would be amazing, but haven’t had that since I ran Delorme Topo USA in my expedition vehicles.

Are factory deliveries for reservation holders being considered?

Clearly, I need to put on a pair of cheaters to more closely inspect the bakery counter offerings. I mean, it’s South Carolina, but it’s not Orangeburg.

Butterfly roof on this building! Is there anything you’re doing that isn’t totally amazing?

    Wheel size options

    33 x 12.50 R18 will do nicely.

    Range and Competitiveness

I've always thought EV trucks make a lot of sense for contractors for the reasons above. It pays to remember that even Diesels will lose 40% - 50% of their range when towing loads in the 70th percentile plus of their advertised tow capacity. EVs have a key problem in that our charging...

Scout Dimensions Updated On Our Website

New home will have 9’ x 18’ garage door, this was not in anticipation of Scout Traveler, but glad we did so. 120” wheelbase is quite lovely for daily driving and overland travel. 10” wider than 1980 Scout… not out of keeping with modern day SUVs, like Defender, at 79.1” or Expedition at 79.9”...

    Home charging setup costs

I would be especially cautious around kitchen and bathroom circuits, which routinely get tapped for 1500+ watt appliances. Bedrooms are fairly safe. The trick is, especially in older homes, or pre-electricity homes, to decipher how circuits can run into multiple rooms in curious and...

    Actual pricing

There is no formula where Scout can simply choose to absorb the (deleted) federal rebate of $7500. Teslas no longer qualify, which means that the biggest proponent of maintaining the program is now against them. EVs will have to hit price parity or cater only to people who are willing to pay...

    Home charging setup costs

True, and in most municipalities, a panel upgrade is permitted work. We had an EC consolidate us down on some lower tier circuits to 15A and 20A tandems to open up a couple of spare positions when they installed our Tesla charger.

US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

Second this sentiment. We’ve bought eight vehicles from Carvana for the service, 10-day no hassle return policy, and generous warranty program, but I think the top perk is NOT being in the room with a car dealership salesperson. In the past, at a typical dealership, we’ve made a point to tell...
