  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

Nice to see Scout's GC is confident that VW "is not involved in Scout Motors' management or operations" (I badly want that to be true!) but they're in unchartered legal territory. No other major automaker that I know of has gone DTC with a subsidiary. I love DTC but this doesn't pass the smell...

    Re-think Headlight Design

I think it looks better than nearly every other vehicle on the road right now, even despite the funky headlights. As for not being a copy cat, it looks a lot more like an updated Mitsubishi Montero (which I love) than an updated IH Scout.

    Re-think Headlight Design

Young people don’t automatically have bad taste. And what’s with this argument that the new Scout can’t be retro/nostalgic? That’s the worst marketing position possible.

    Re-think Headlight Design

When I first saw the headlights during the reveal, I instantly thought, 'Oh boy, they're trying too hard to avoid looking like a Bronco and ended up butchering the frontend' and it appears I was right. When your design is led by not being something instead of being something, you get weirdness...

So, how many reservations so far?

If you build it, they will come. Don’t worry about keeping people excited. We don’t need an Off Roadeo. We don’t need a Scout hammock or flag. We certainly don’t need special treatment for a select few. Just build it.

So, how many reservations so far?

Maybe if you say it enough times, it’ll come true?

    Decoding Reservation Numbers

The benefit might just be that you get a little badge next to your name that says “1st Year Member.” I’m sticking with the FAQ, and the email, that Scout put out.

    Dimensions

Needs those dimensions for the batteries, generator, et al.?

    Decoding Reservation Numbers

During the live reveal, as soon as Scott said reservations are live, I hopped on another device and reserved quickly. Confirmation email at 3:30 Pacific.

    Dimensions

Scout’s 91.6” width includes mirrors. F150 Raptor is 96” wide with mirrors and 86.6” without mirrors, for reference. The tires and fenders appear equally as wide as the mirrors at 91.6” on the Scout. So it seems the Scout closer to a full-size SUV than a Jeep or Bronco, even the Braptor.

New Scout Trucks To Be Revealed October 24, 2024

Only difference is the automakers started replacing the sliding side door with a regular side door and they gave them off roady names.

New Scout Trucks To Be Revealed October 24, 2024

Just about every vehicle on the road today is a minivan. They call them SUVs now. And I don't think we should stifle honest, unemotional discussion about it. I'm not dunking on the silhouette just to dunk on it; I have an opinion about what I'm seeing with my eyeballs. That's all.

New Scout Trucks To Be Revealed October 24, 2024

I’ve shown the silhouette to several people who recall the original and so far it’s not looking good for this design. I’m not shocked; the silhouette looks like every other car on the road: a minivan that doesn’t want you to know it’s a minivan. It certainly doesn’t look like a Scout so far...

New Scout Trucks To Be Revealed October 24, 2024

The only photo we've seen so far (copied below for reference) suggests an approach angle similar to a minivan. The front bumper looks to be about 6'' off the ground. I'm not clowning or trolling, just wondering if maybe I've overlooked something in the photo below.

    A New Generation Of Scout

lol you’d have to saw the entire quarter panel off. Could be wrong, but I don’t think the new Scout will be an off roader.

I’m getting Explorer vibes here. Not a bad thing at all, just not what I expected. Can’t wait to see more!

Scout Motors - who are your competitors?

I’m not in marketing professionally, but it seems fairly obvious that Scout’s strongest play is nostalgia. The 60s and 70s vibes are strong in autos right now. Land Cruiser is the best example currently but the Bronco kicked it off, Ineos is singularly focused on nostalgia, and even the VW Bus...
