  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Road Trip in a VW Buzz: Success or Train Wreck

There are many factors that led to the end result. Which is why I opted for the Harvester option. Not because I'm afraid of a bad situation, but because foresight always results in better hindsight. For instance, we left Lake Tahoe a few years back around 4:30pm. Bright and sunny but with storm...

    Suggestion: Autonomous Driving Mode

I agree. As a motorcyclist, I am amazed at how many people drive with their phones stuck in their faces. I know other countries have very strict enforcement for cell phone use while driving. What seems to be the problem here in the U.S. as to why it's not enforced? They should make the car a...

    Suggestion: Autonomous Driving Mode

Only problem is Tesla FSD isn't really FSD. It's still a hands-on system. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Mercedes-Benz is the only manufacturer that has approved Level 3, although it's only approved in Nevada and California at the time.

What is one feature you hope Scout will include that has not yet been shown?

I understand that one as my 68 Camaro has that feature. But it won't work with the dead pedal feature that is standard on cars now.

    Harvester Directly Powering Motors?

100% guarantee that in many situations, Generator power will flow directly to Inverter (which is shorthand for inverter and all other power control electronics), from the inverter, directly to the wheel motors, bypassing the battery. Can it work that way? I thought the job of the inverter was...

US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

Toyota and VW have something similar.

What Was The Biggest Automotive Story Of 2024?

For me, it was the EPA allowing California to ban the sale of gas-powered vehicles. I thought their job was to set regulations. Hmmm.....

    CLOSED! Audio System Brand Poll

Of all the audio systems I've listened to (in a car, home audio is different), Bowers and Wilkins is my favorite. Assuming Scout goes all in with high end components though. I would have standard audio system and make BW the optional upgrade. But please, make is the real deal BW, not just some...

    Ummm...that's subjective.

    Scott Keogh's 2024 Holiday Message

What I love about Scott Keogh is how he speaks to you, not at you. How he speaks with his heart. How he uses words that most people who are in the know of certain things "know". Using the phrase like "dialed in" for instance. Oh epic. But he is also passionate. And being able to just say Merry...

What are you driving until release?

As for a truck, I will continue to drive my Titan. As for cars, I'm looking to get a 2024 Golf R with the manual transmission.

    Harvester- No Gas Cap

As a motorcycle rider it doesn't really matter to me. Also, because I still use house keys, again doesn't matter either way. I actually find it annoying sometimes if I have remembered if I have the key on me when driving the push button start car.

US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

Toyota also offers pure web based buying system called Smart Path. You can choose a Smart Path dealer, check inventory, and the price is the price. You can arrange your trade in, apply for financing etc. My sister bought her Camry this way. I found the vehicle she wanted at a nearby dealer. It...

US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

And that's my point. Everyone can charge what they want, and there is no MSRP to compare it to. And while I think the "dealer added markup" is complete BS, I can say that when I was buying a used car for my son a few months ago, and I contacted numerous dealers, with most I simply texted them...

US Dealer Slaps $20,000 Markup On VW ID. Buzz

Not that I'm supporting dealer practices per se. But whatever industry you work in, you are telling me that you aren't the lawyer that charges $500/hr just to write a letter, or the doctor that charges $10,000 just to admit someone to the ER, or the dentist that charges $1500 for cleanings, or...

We own EVs. Ask Us Anything.

No offense, it's fine to have a personal agenda. But I hope you are open minded and not locked into "my way or the highway" and anyone who disagrees with your opinion will not be tolerated type. I love my ICE vehicles( cars, motorcyles, etc.). I have also worked for an EV manufacturer. So I...

    What did you reserve?

I ordered a Terra with Range Extender. It will be replacing Billy Goat of truck Nissan Titan that is still running and looking like new after 20 years. It will be handed down to my son. Love the truck. But, California gas prices take all the fun out of it. So, TRE as I affectionately have named...

What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

Please keep it simple. I think Hyundai/Kia do a really good job at this. I just rented a 4 series convertible, and it was seamless, intuitive, and so easy to use. I hope you guys are driving other vehicles (including those within the VW group) to see what works best. Please don't overthink it or...

What do you love or hate about other off-road vehicles

It doesn't only apply to off roaders, but poor visibility where you can't see the corners is annoying to me. Land Rover does a great job of their seating position and line of sight. I also hate when the vehicle is too wide. Most trails are narrow, and it doesn't work very well to have a really...
