  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    Battery pack idea

I have been reading a lot about newer battery technology that is possible. One idea that has floated around is sodium-ion batteries. Sodium is very similar to Lithium on the periodic table. The main trade off is that it is much more stable but at a cost of capacity. My suggestion is that if...

    Daily Driver Comforts

I know this isn't going to be a popular opinion....But why make a special dial for something that doesn't need to be changed fast or while the driver cannot take their eyes off the road. Adding a dial adds a lot of manufacturing and design complexities. Another factor to consider is that there...

    Plug Type

That's not true, the J1772 is the same as the top portion of the CCS1. So a J1772 Plugs into the CCS1 for AC charging. If you have ever been to a location that has a free charger it is typically a J1772. All CCS1 vehicle (id4, ev6, etc) can plug in no issue. All other styles...

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

Personally I would love the Scout to be a great "family" adventure vehicle. There would need to be balances between everything but my idea would be that On the smaller side of a full SUV. I'm not suggesting a small cross over but it definitely doesn't need to be ford excursion sized. The models...

So what does everyone think of the first new Scout designs...

So as long as those drawings arn't drawn to scale. It just looks (in the picture) that the wheelbase is considerably shorter. Is it safe to assume that the wheelbases will be roughly the same?

    EV focused suggestions

I agree that a full size spare is much prefered. but for the on-roaders any spare is a minimum in my opinion.

    True 4WD with in-wheel motors

I have seen those types of energy capture devices. There are some of those being used to capture energy from waves in the ocean. While I think it would be a great idea to get as much energy back whenever possible I think that the benifits would be less than putting a solar panel on the roof...

    True 4WD with in-wheel motors

The link you showed says each motor has a peak of 110kW. Combing them won't simply add up, but even if they did the rivian's total kW output is 623kW and is much higher. Also charge rate is not the same as discharge rate. Discharge produces less heat than charging does and for safety as well as...

    EV focused suggestions

I agree with this. the VW ID4 has something similar. opening the door from the outside it is an electronic button push on the underside of the handle, but if the power is out the whole handle moves and then mechanically opens the door. I do believe the ID4 also has a hidden key hole in the...

    True 4WD with in-wheel motors

an in wheel motor has many sever limitations most of all size. In order for it to fit within a wheel the whole motor assembly might be at most the width of a tire which is likely at most 18 inches. Taking in to account the housing, and other components that have to go into the assembly that...

    Plug Type

I know you are saying J1772 but the actual connection would be CCS1. CCS1 has the additional inputs for DC Fast charging. J1772 will get level 2, CCS1 gets the Level 3.

    Welcome and Introductions!

Hello everyone, I am an avid car enthusiast and over the last few years I have fully embraced EVs and enjoy the benefits that i feel makes them better for the the everyday person. Unlike some EV enthusiasts I acknowledge the draw backs EVs have especially for rural America, but i believe in...

I love the new designs, but Will the SUV variant be that much shorter than the Pick up version?

Needs to be able to make it through Rubicons gate keeper without traction boards...

As a non-scout owner i would question if a classic-stock scout would make it through the Rubicon gate keeper? From my memory the scout was a rugged vehicle that could help with your immense farm or property. That is a different spirit than a Jeep which is a "go anywhere" type of idea. The scout...

    True 4WD with in-wheel motors

I think HUB motors is not a good idea. 1 - HUB motors are un-sprung weight and therefore are more likely to get broken due to constant shock. 2 - Being exposed to the elements to include deep water (off-roading) will only increase the likeliness of a gasket failure or contamination erroding...

    DC / Northern Virginia Group?

I don't know if there is a group for this area yet or maybe we can just create one. Let me know.

    Diesel heater / range extender

BMW tried that with the I3 but it wasn't really pratical, it added a lot of weight. It adds a ton of weight, complexity, and it takes up a lot of space. I have seen people bring a generator with them if they are going off roading or going camping. this can charge a vehicle. I would assume that...

    Removable top is a must

I too would love a removeable top for a Scout EV. this would also be great because i cannot think of a single EV that has a fully removeable top. Hummer EV has removeable roof sections but it doesn't come off like a ford bronco would. I immagine the Scout EV should model it's removeable top...

    EV focused suggestions

I have never even seen a real original scout so my recommendations are coming from a perspective of making it a great EV as well as a great scout. (in no specific order) - No haptic feedback buttons: I know the VW ID4 has already discontinued the use of the non-button-buttons but i just want to...

    Manual Transmission

As someone who loves manual transmissions on ICE cars I would beg Scout to NOT include a manual transmission. Having a manual transmission gives you more input to control a sluggish and unresponsive Ice motor. However electric motors are instant regardless of whatever speed you are going at...
